Ate here in July 2014 with friends. Wonderful food, service and atmosphere. The crab toasties and cod and Parmesan risotto were gorgeous and the brown bread ice cream exquisite! The homemade made is absolutely fantastic. I had walnut and Stilton..... Delicious! Service was attentive, but not intrusive, and the ambience wonderful. Will definitely return. There is only one thing I... More

Tanroagan and sister property The Boat Yard are quite obviously very popular, and for good reason. Booking a day ahead we only had the choice of a 6.30pm seating and to be gone by 8.15. I am never a fan of this scenario, puts too much pressure onto both diners and the kitchen staff I believe. However, we chose the... More

Before our holiday in the IOM, we'd researched places to eat in Douglas and noted Tanroagan as No.1 on Tripadvisor. On the afternoon of our arrival, we walked passed the restaurant and noticed a young lady vacuuming ready for evening service - we enquired and, yet, they could just fit us in later that day. Our meal was excellent -... More

We were lucky enough to get an early table but booking is really essential and for a Friday and Saturday, weeks ahead. Our meals were superb from the home made bead choice to a superb fish selection beautifully cooked and served hot. I agree it's not cheap but it was so good the price was worth paying. If ever I... We ate out every night of our 4 nights in Douglas but this has to be our best meal. The staff were great, the food was excellent. I had turbot, something I rarely see now days on the menu. It was a good piece beautifully cooked. I would certainly go back again. It is not cheap but not expensive for... More

I had surf and turf. The steak was meagre and overcooked, I asked for rare but it was medium to well done. The lobster was criminally overcooked and had shrivelled into nothing, I asked the waitress for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and she replied 'sarvin yun blaanc', really the staff ought to be trained on wine in an establishment... Tanroagan is without doubt the best restaurent I have visited on the Isle of Man. The fresh seafood is prepared to an exceptional standard, the service is friendly and courteous, the bistro style ambiance is enjoyable, whether dining with friends or for a romantic evening, and the location is convenient. This is a very professionally run establishment which can compete... More

This was recommended to us by our host on the Isle of Man. It's a small place, only 34 seats, so reservations were definitely required as we were here during TT race week. Carla was our friendly and efficient server. Two in our party had the pan roasted cod and two had the scallops. All of us were very happy... More

Lovely meal at Tanroagans. Excellent seafood restaurant just off the harbour. The monkfish and lobster were excellent followed by Eton Mess (shared between two as it was too large for one person!). Small restaurant so make sure you reserve a table
