Thought we'd give the bistro a try, having eaten at the Hillside restaurant. Although the bistro was quite quiet compared to the restaurant, the food did not disappoint. My husband loved the crab risotto, and the vegetable Tagine was one of the best vegetarian dishes I have eaten out in a while. The wine selection was good, and the German... More

We went to the bistro today for a breakfast with our price is Wight voucher. We were greeted by a very smiley girl. She gave us a lovely welcome. Ordered full English breakfast with tea. It arrived hot beautifully presented . It was most delicious! The decor was really lovely . Will be back !

Got the 6.30 ferry from Fishbourne and arrived Ventnor 8pm. Restaurant more than half full compared to others in town which were empty on a friday night out of season. Good reception, nice ambience. Small bistro with dining area in proximity to final food preparation, nice seeing chef putting final touches to food. Some sensitive touches e.g. antique silver napkin... More

I keep going back to this bistro for its wonderful food. So full of flavour and well presented. I had superb pate and then pork belly last night and grilled goat's cheese today. Drinks are still overpriced -£2 for half a cup of tea - and the magnificent display of lilies, while looking impressive, are unsuited for a restaurant with... More

This little restaurant has just been revamped ... it looks cool and minimalist. The food was good ... but where do they get off with their attitude towards children? A woman with two fairly old children was turned away when I was there, although the restaurant only had two tables full. If you're doing it because you think it will... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent visit to the Bistro and to afford us the opportunity of addressing certain misunderstandings. We do have a policy, which has been in place since we opened 6 years ago, of welcoming children 12+ to our hotel, apartments and eateries. This policy is clearly stated on our website, on the... Went to the HIllside Bistro for New Year's Eve. I had been looking forward to a number of dishes that had been advertised as part of a six course meal on its website, so was somewhat disappointed to find 75% of the menu had changed. I felt conned seeing as we'd had to pay a deposit and what had been... More

We went in here on the Sunday night between Christmas and New Year. It was very quiet which was such a shame, that's my only negative comment - lack of atmosphere/buzz! Food was absolutely superb. Starters of baked crab and a rabbit terrine were delicious followed by an fantastic bouillabaisse with a amazing depth of flavour and slow roasted lamb... More

The food is good here, really nice so much is homegrown up the hill and the fish caught right in Ventnor bay. The "open kitchen" doesn't work for me, the chef's so tucked away at the back you don't see home at work, but you get disturbed by the dishwashing of your plates. Happy with the service otherwise. Expensive.
