The restaurant was very busy, we hadn't booked a table, they did fit us in but from the service we received I wish they had turned us away. We had to ask for everything, drinks, prawn crackers - other tables were given these automatically, we even had to ask to order. The food was average, I have had much better... More

Our experience started badly when the waitress plonked down the wine onto the table and just walked off again, we had a half hour wait for our starter and then another twenty minutes after that for our main. The waitress took the fork off of my plate from the starter when clearing the plates and put it back on my... More

Little bit cramped at the table, but it was beautifully decorated .The staff seemed a bit tired, I'm sorry to say this but if we'd had a warmer greeting it would have been better. Food was superb, though portions bit small for some in the group. They offer 'mild', 'medium', 'hot', or 'very hot' curry. I'm gald I had medium,... More

We booked at the Black Cat for a special 50th Birthday meal on Monday 4 August, first of all impressions were good, but then everything became a disaster, we ordered our meals by a very old English chap, which was the owner who had trouble taking our order on his new order devise and we had to repeat the order... We were lucky to great a table on Saturday night as it was fully booked. The food was freshly cooked and you are given a choice of not spicy, medium or hot. We went for hot but it wasn't overpowering and certainly more to UK taste. Friendly staff, good service.

My partner and i visited the black cat on the 19th july we didnt book a table but was lucky that they could fit us in and they were very friendly and welcoming! There was a wide selection of dishes on the menu which made it difficult to pick what to have and we found it a little bit expensive... More

We picked this restaurant because of the good reviews but were slightly disappointed by what we found. The table for four was much too small and when we decided to have a selection of food it was obvious that it wasn't all going to fit on the table. No offer was made by the staff to change to a bigger... More

Great quality dishes with great taste, some more authentic than others however all top notch. We have visited a few times and each time has been consistently great. The owner is very friendly and takes great pride in his establishment. Great decoration and atmosphere inside. Only down side is once you have finished your meal it can take a while... More

We have been to this restaurant a few times over the last few years and we have never had a poor meal. The staff are very friendly and the food is absolutely heavenly. I cannot believe that there are any poor reviews on here as we have know several people go and they always speak highly of the Black Cat.... More

We had dinner at the Black Cat restaurant on a Thursday evening as our last meal on the Isle of Wight. It was one of the nicest, most tasty meals we enjoyed on the island. We were the first to arrive for dinner so the restaurant was empty when we sat down and just receiving groups of patrons as we... More
