Try the seafood here it's wonderful, fish and chips recommended , another pub that you can sit inside or outside and watch the sea.
Enjoyed a tasty lunch with a large party of children, teenagers and adults. Food was tasty and wholesome and very generous portions sizes - cost was average- a bit pricey for some things eg. Sandwiches when compared to main meals. Quaint, old characterful building on sea front. Not posh but interesting and very in keeping with the character. Staff were... More
Very warm welcome and we spent every night in the Fisherman's Cottage during our stay in Shanklin, as it was just a lovely, cosy, friendly place to be in after a hard day's walking. We simply loved it in every way. Delicious food, ales and wine and nothing was too much trouble. Richard and I would just like to thank... More
Really loved this place food was generous and fantastic but closed so early for food (8 o'clock) I would have given 5 except for this. I hope that they go from strength to strength would definitely visit again. Lovely!
what a lovely gem of a pub tucked away in shanklin over looking the solent v quiet and typical oldie worldly pub, not an here we go here go place and good choice of real ale.
The Fishermans Cottage is a wonderful old pub, located directly at the beach with excellent food and ales and very friendly staff. My absolutely favorite place on the Isle of Wight!
Had lunch there fine. Try going there on a Sunday evening around 8.00 p.m. Different story. They turned 20 customers away- all over 60 so we were not Hen and Stag party but certainly had money to send. Clearly preferred to watch Downton Abbey. Good luck with the Winter Season if you can turn away this much trade in October!
Saw this from a distance and wondered down and soaked up the atmosphere. Staff friendly and helpful. Everything about it was a great pub experience...and the setting and views - outstanding. You would have to go a long way to better this.
