What a fantastic find this place was - recommended to us by someone we met at a local bar. I've never tasted chips so full of flavour, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and not at all greasy. The fish was beautiful and white with a crispy beer batter coating. We enjoyed it so much we went... More

My wife and I had read the good reviews and booked a table for dinner. There was no mention of a long delay but it took an hour for the food to arrive - the waiter started apologising at around the 45 min mark. When the food came it was very good, but the ridiculously long wait spoiled the evening.... More

Made a special trip down here to have coffee and cakes upon the recommendation of friends and family, but they no longer sell cakes. Now it's just a quaint looking pub, admittedly the staff wee friendly and the beer was nice, but no cakes. :( Bitterly disappointed

We eventually found the Fishermans Cottage as it is obvious from the esplanade. There is a sign right at the end of the esplanade by the roundabout but you cannot see it from there. You have to walk past the public toilets (sounds worse than it is) and suddenly this delightful thatched cottage appears. My husband said the beer was... More

Fisherman's cottage built in 1817 is one of the oldest cottages in Shanklin. Besides being a very quaint pub, it is located in a picturesque setting at the bottom of the Shanklin Chine on a beautiful stretch of beach with fishing boats lining its frontage. It is a very popular place for folks wanting to enjoy the beachfront on a... More

We were recommended this place by someone on the ferry over to the Island. Whilst visiting Shanklin early in the week we spotted the pub and went and had a drink. The local ale is lovely. The food served looked and smelt great with generous portion sizes. When we were unable to locate anywhere later in the week for fish... More

Sat outside on a lovely summers night with our family, we all shared some mussels which were lovely - asked for more bread and it was gratefully received warm and crunchy baguette, perfect! Ales were nice so we all had two pints each. Mains were nice quality and huge portions. Love the location next to the beach. Very popular pub... More

We didn`t eat at the restaurant, just stopped for refreshment after spending time in the Chine. The food that was being served however, looked very tasty and from the empty plates being collected, it appeared to be very much appreciated by those participating!!
