The restaurant was very busy but our food arrived promptly. The burgers were very cheap and nasty and I can only describe them as 'kebab van' style which was disappointing for the price paid. The nachos which was shared were plentiful and tasty. We were made to feel welcome with the dog. However, the food was disappointing for the price... More

We visited the Steamer on a Sunday afternoon, was very busy as they had a great duo playing live music, settled into the comfy sofas with a few glasses of wine. Was pleasantly served by Laura who was very welcoming and efficient at her job. Thank you for looking after us, we will be back!

We arrived at around 7pm on a very busy night after being told earlier in the day that we couldn't book, but just had to turn up. We took a seat on the lower patio area and bought a drink, the bar man was really friendly. We were a party of 9, so needed a large table. We left our... More

The Steamer always looked extremely busy every time we passed and there was always a blackboard sign up, saying 'full please wait here to be seated'. One night however, there was no blackboard, so we decided to see why the place was always packed. We asked the waiter at the door how long was the wait, and he replied there... More

Stopped for a drink before going back to holiday cottage. Place was heaving, but managed to secure 2 comfortable sofas for us and our 2 dogs. Bar staff friendly and efficient, good selection of ales. Nice atmospheric traditional pub too.

We go here whenever we visit the Island and are always pleased with the food and service. This year the lunches were delicious and the weather was perfect!! The menu is vast and it is always difficult to choose!!

We decided to go to The Steamer after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. We have four teenage children and plan our holidays like a military operation. All meals we had on the Island for our week's holiday were better than we might have expected and to be fair to The Steamer the food was pretty good. When we asked the... More

Having arrived in shanklin mid afternoon we tried to cram as much as possible in before the inevitable rain came. At around 7.30 I trawled the internet looking for restaurants within walking distance and a relatively good review. One restaurant appeared to standout called the waterfront along the seafront, although did say "May need to book". We headed off at... More

We ate here twice during our short stay and the food was very tast although on the first occasion it took a long time to come and could have been hotter. The boys (7 and 11) both enjoyed their meals and I enjoyed the view.
