Fairy garden afternoon tea

Great tea shop which serves an amazing choice of cakes. We sat outside in the fairy garden which was unusual but fantastic. The scones were massive and served warm. The service was quick and very friendly.

My husband and I have never missed our trip to the old thatch tea rooms whenever we are on the island. We used to take our girls when they were younger and now they take their children. The proprioters are always so welcoming and nothing is to much trouble. The food is positively scrumptious and extremely Moorish. Our holiday is... More

We visited on a busy lunchtime during half term week but managed to get a table indoors as it had just started to rain. We all opted for scones and cream, with a pot of tea for the grown ups and hot chocolate and a strawberry milkshake for the children. The scones were extremely fresh and light in texture, while... My family and I always try to fit in a cream tea when we travel in the UK. Based on the Trip Advisor reviews we opted for the Old Thatch in Shanklin and would agree with all the positive reviews on here. We sat in the garden in the May sunshine, service was good and the staff were friendly and... More

If you every go to the Isle of Wight you would be missing a gem if you do not visit the Old Thatch Tearooms at Shanklin. The moment you step into the gardens at the rear of the Tearoom you are surrounded by beautiful gardens. The food is outstanding with most of the dishes home made and the attention to... More

I promise you I have no intention of changing my Beautiful & Magical Teashop including the way all the food is presented. You are so right I do put a lot of love into it and it certainly pays off with reviews such as yours. Thank you and I hope that you are able to visit again very soon. Patricia More

Where to begin, on arriving we were told there was only space in the garden, which was fine, we found our own table and there we sat for 45 mins, with no service, menus and watching the pigeons walk on the tables until my mother went and found someone, no apology was given , menus were dumped on the table... I am so disappointed that you were disappointed with your visit to my Beautiful Teashop and that somehow you slipped through the net on an extremely busy day (as you so aptly said we were full both inside and out) whereupon as you can see from the reviews we normarlly get this is extremely rare. I cannot agree with you... More

As a regular visitor to the island I always try to include a visit to The Old Thatch. The Tea room is beautiful both inside and out. The garden is lovely and a great place to sit and relax. There is even a fairy grotto for both young and old to enjoy. This time I just popped in with my... More

Very quaint with lots of interesting teapots and many other bits and bobs to look at around the different rooms. Our order was taken quite quickly although it was a bit slow getting to us, surprising as it was not busy. However, our slices of cakes were beautifully presented and very good. I was pleased to be able to have... More

We had a cream tea here recently and it was the best we have ever tasted. The staff were really lovely and the setting was so beautiful. We will definitely be returning there when we are on the island again.
