Excellent fresh food, lively atmosphere.

I have used the Bay Tree for about twenty years now, and the food is always freshly cooked and has lots of original recipes. Try the Bay Tree cookbooks for delicious meals at home! . Service can be a bit slow as the place gets inundated most lunchtimes and the kitchen is tiny for the size of the... read more

On arrival ( shortly after 2.pm) there were lots of empty tables only two of which had been cleared. We found this disconcerting to say the least & almost left. We realise it was a Bank Holiday but there weren't very many occupied tables. However, due to the time, we sat down & checked out the menu. Service was pretty... More

Friendly helpful and knowledgeable staff and a varied and imaginative menu recently made for an enjoyable meal for myself and my friends. The atmosphere within the restaurant was both warm and welcoming, the order was taken promptly and the reasonably priced food was excellent, with vegetarian, fish and meat dishes on offer. We had a very relaxing time and will... More

Food was good (if bread a little thinner than usual) and we are regulars (until now) and often enjoy a cinnamon scone there. Today there was a queue outside the gents which lasted 15 minutes until someone retrieved the Manager (Jennifer) to see if someone was unwell inside. Jennifer told us "just use the ladies, gents is out of order'.... More

Dear Sir, I am sorry that you felt that your time was wasted yesterday afternoon. We had a small leak in the gents toilet which meant it had to be temporarily closed. Whilst Jen concedes that she should have put a sign up immediately, she was, despite your claim, also running the floor of an incredibly busy bank holiday lunch... More

Visiting the Bay Tree today I was shocked how poor the hygiene was of the dinning area. Have been to many restaurants/coffee shops in Northern Ireland and elsewhere in the world I expect a lot higher standard then what I saw today! The front entrance was dreadful grubby and dirty, the main body of the restaurant had a lot of... More

Dear customer, We pride ourselves on the quality of every aspect of our business. The most common feedback we receive relates to our consistency. No restaurant is able to achieve consistency if they allow poor standards to exist. Whilst I would dispute any allegation about poor hygiene (the council's allocation of 4 stars might reassure the reader), I have brought... More

After partaking in sociable drinks the previous evening I decided to  walk aimlessly around Holywood searching for the ultimate cure. A Pear Picking Porky never fails but I required something more substantial. After stumbling down a narrow alleyway I was to discover a hidden gem. I was met at the door by a blonde lady who can only be described... More

My husband and I arrived at 12.30pm to a packed restaurant with no seats immediately available. I got talking to friends who were eating there already and by the time we had finished our conversation a table had been vacated. Staff very efficient, cleared our table immediately. The waitress came quickly to take our food and drinks orders. I will... More

I love the bay tree! My favourite place for lunch, particularly the goats cheese and puy lentil salad. Had breakfast there yesterday- eggs bennidict. Gorgeous! Been eating there for years and NEVER disappointed. As for the cinnamon scones...to die for!

Went to bay tree with my young son and baby, just three of us for lunch. Staff had been excellent on arrival very busy but staff still found time to help me park buggy and show my son where bathroom was. I had pate, homemade and absolutely beautiful. Cinnamon scone is a must deadly calories but worth every bite! Could... More

Returned here for lunch today and, on browsing the menu, we were attracted to this month's Brunch Special; we were not disappointed. July's Brunch Special is 'Feta & chive omelette in a toasted wholemeal bap with avocado & tomato salsa' @ £6.95. We ordered the same dish: my wife's on the wholemeal bap and mine on gluten-free bread instead of... More
