This is a small place but the this means the food is given the full attention. A good, interesting menu, well prepared and well presented. Excellent for vegans and other specialist needs.

We visited on a week day and got there just before the lunchtime rush- ideal really as it is quite small with many customers. The bijou cafe was very pleasant and the type of place you would envision in London so a nice change for Wigan. We ordered two herbal teas and a mushroom, spinach and tomatoes on toast. This... More

If you are looking for quality and inspiring vegetarian and vegan cuisine. I am so glad I found this gem of a restaurant in Wigan, it feels like coming home every time I eat here. The service and food are excellent, the only problem is trying to decide what to try! See you next week Peter x x

We have not been to the Coven since it changed hands, and maybe we chose the wrong occasion. We went to afternoon tea as part of the Wigan food and drink festival. There had been over-booking, to the point where a member of staff had to stay in the middle of the tables and pass things backwards and forwards. The... More

Just popped in today for lunch with my friend. Was nice and quiet considering it was Saturday lunch time, but it was busy when we left. We both had mushroom burgers with cheddar and chips and it was gorgeous! Really tasty food, the chips were lovely too. Nice home made, chunky chips. I also had Eton mess and my friend... More

We visited the coven for lunch on a Saturday and were very impressed. The mushroom burger in a bagel was absolutely delicious as were the home made chips. It was good value for the quality of the food and a friendly little place to eat. We enjoyed all of the good and the service was excellent. Will definitely be returning... More

I'm not a veggie or gluten free but great to take my girlfriend to somewhere she can pretty much have anything. The mushroom burger on a bagel was gorgeous.

I really enjoyed it- service was great really friendly, like being adopted into the family for an evening. Really tasty and enjoyable food. Was £20 for 3 courses which as a meat eater felt like a lot with no meat or fish- but was all made from fresh so maybe I am unfair
