Description: Rich in its Eastern references, The Tavern Bar and Thai Restaurant offers...
Rich in its Eastern references, The Tavern Bar and Thai Restaurant offers Wigans diners a sumptuous dining experience with a strong Thai feel. Passers by may mistake The Tavern to be just another high-end pub but stepping inside this old Victorian drinking establishment, youll discover an exciting fusion of East and West, the antique wood carved bar surrounded by high tables and stools yet lit by printed silk lamps and dotted with pretty pink orchids. Through to the expansive dining room, The Tavern becomes increasingly sophisticated with a romantic atmosphere. The space is surrounded by beautiful Thai artefacts and yet more plants, the lighting low and warm and tables generously spaced. As well as the traditional dishes Thai restaurants are known for, The Taverns talented kitchen offers a fine selection of its own creative takes on South East Asian cuisine, using authentic ingredients such as lemongrass, galangal and coconut milk, flown in direct from Thailand weekly, to evoke the traditional flavour of Thai cookery.

We visited here for a birthday meal on Friday night. There was a variety of set menus, early bird menus and normal menus and between us we tried a bit of everything. Food was absolutely delicious, particularly the chocolate brownie - I would visit again solely for that!! The restaurant wasn't too busy but the waiter service was a little... More

I am not a frequent user of Thai establishments, so I left the ordering of my meal to others.I was pleased with the delicious spices and the very attractive presentation..The service was very pleasant and efficient, and what was an almost empty restaurant , when we arrived at 6.30pm was extremely busy when we left, so obviously this place is... I have been to this restaurant numerous times in the past and have always enjoyed it. We haven't been in around 18 months, so my husband booked for my birthday for us and our teenage daughters. The food was very disappointing. Gone are the traditional carved vegetable decorations on your starters, they have been replaced with an 'english' side salad.... More

This is Thai food and I was absolutely spoilt for choice with the extensive menu. Every dish we ordered was piping hot and zinging with fresh spices. A great experience all round.

Was looking forward to a good meal , as we have had on several occasions previously at this restaurant. Nine of us went as a birthday celebration. Our table was booked for around 8 pm. The drinks service was fine but taking of the food order was very slow. Starters arrived much later by which time we were all very... More
