Unfortunately the Dicconson Arms closed at the end of September. There appeared to be no warning and Caroline recently told me that they were refurbishing the bar area and had improved the kitchens to cope with bar food as well as the restaurant. Maybe it is an issue with the landlords and hopefully it will be open again soon as... More

Food here is decent, quite a lot of choice, the service however is what lets the place down, very disjointed and haing to wait a very long time for meals which dont merit the time waited in preparing them makes me think that there is some issues in the kitchen, would not recommend particularly.

Phoned the Pub to book a table, no reply. Went to the pub which was closed and in darkness at 7pm. Marston's need to put out some news.

We visited the Dicconsons arms for a quick lunch when we finished work early for the day. It was a relatively quiet lunch but steadily got busier. This place seems to be the place in wigan to go! Good food, lots of seasonal choices, which is great. Service was very friendly and they couldn't do enough for us! Very good.... More

Went with friends who had been before, from the outside of the restaurant I thought this was a typical pub grub venue, don't judge a book by its cover, the food was exceptionally well presented and tasty. I had a black pudding starter on a potato cake with a honey and mustard sauce, only one problem not enough sauce it... More

After a recent visit with friends while passing from to southport. The staff were reasonable friendly and attentive However, the overall atmosphere was unwelcoming and slightly uncomfortable. I thought the food was of decent quality however, I think the standard has dropped recently (we have been a number of times over the last 12 months). Not really impressed and I... More

Fab food and service... Had our meal in the restaurant with a nice bottle of prosecco and squeezed in a yummy dessert! Great table service very attentive but not in you're face. Nice atmosphere...will defiantly be returning.

Overall i think Dicconsons is or could be a decent eating establishment, however on the day i went it didn't quite live up to the reputation the reviews on here give it. I was impressed with the layout and decor of the place and the staff seemed nice and helpful. It has good parking facilities and is convenient to get... More

I have never eaten better food in a restaurant that I have at the Dicconson Arms. The menus are endlessly interesting and inventive, though some favourite dishes stay there. But when they are as good as the fig tart, for example, why not? A good test of any restaurant is how the fish is cooked and presented; the fish here... More
