Went with friends who had been before, from the outside of the restaurant I thought this was a typical pub grub venue, don't judge a book by its cover, the food was exceptionally well presented and tasty. I had a black pudding starter on a potato cake with a honey and mustard sauce, only one problem not enough sauce it... More

After a recent visit with friends while passing from to southport. The staff were reasonable friendly and attentive However, the overall atmosphere was unwelcoming and slightly uncomfortable. I thought the food was of decent quality however, I think the standard has dropped recently (we have been a number of times over the last 12 months). Not really impressed and I... More

Fab food and service... Had our meal in the restaurant with a nice bottle of prosecco and squeezed in a yummy dessert! Great table service very attentive but not in you're face. Nice atmosphere...will defiantly be returning.

Overall i think Dicconsons is or could be a decent eating establishment, however on the day i went it didn't quite live up to the reputation the reviews on here give it. I was impressed with the layout and decor of the place and the staff seemed nice and helpful. It has good parking facilities and is convenient to get... More

I have never eaten better food in a restaurant that I have at the Dicconson Arms. The menus are endlessly interesting and inventive, though some favourite dishes stay there. But when they are as good as the fig tart, for example, why not? A good test of any restaurant is how the fish is cooked and presented; the fish here... More

This restaurant looks quite ordinary from the outside, but once inside it is a real gem. The décor has character and the people who run it are very friendly. They appear to pride themselves on attention to detail. For example if different cutlery is required for the ordered meal, it is not just carried in the hand but is placed... More

Been a few times & each time the food has been top notch. Even converted my friend who is a total Indian food lover & she is now converted to the food here & really enjoyed her steak. The best one she ever tasted she said. Service & staff friendly & helpful. Only downside wanted to go for Sunday Dinner... More

Travelling from London to Edinburgh, we came off the M6 to avoid Charnock Richard Service Station food, and stumbled across this gem. We were met by a friendly barman, the food was fanrtastic; I had lambs liver, which came on mashed potato with delicious black pudding and bacon and caramelised onions, my wife and daughter had excellent fish and double... The food on offer was excellent and well cooked, the specials board was almost entirely fish based which was a slight problem for one of our party who is allergic to seafood of any description. But the main menu was very comprehensive. The staff were attentive and pleasant. Our only negative comment would be that it was so hot in... More
