Large portions at decent prices

This restaurant is next to the Travelodge hotel. There is outside seating for drinks only, although they allowed me to be served food there for lunch, because I had a dog with me. I had the pork medallions which turned out to be 3 large pieces of pork meat, in a nice cream and cheese sauce, and... read more

Second time I've been and I have to say, not disappointed! Lovely customer service from the outset, good food and plenty of time given for perusing the menu. Staff couldn't do enough - all in all, all 9 of us enjoyed our meals and we'll certainly be coming again.

My family of four went for lunch on Sunday. The atmosphere was great, staff were friendly and the food tasty. The only negative was the time we had to wait for our mains...this did not bother us as we had a lot to catching up to do, but it could affect some.

Me, my mother and my aunt all came here, purely by chance, since we are all vegetarian we are always wary of trying new places, but when we arrived the chef endeavoured to create a special meal for us, which was included in the happy hour price. When our food arrived there was piles of it! Such good value for... More

It's cheap enough for the set menu, but I won't return. Much rather pay a few pounds more for decent food.

Attached to Durham Travelodge, where we stayed for 3 nights, Sambuca was a very pleasant surprise to find. We ate 2 nights. Firstly we had a three course choice of set menu meal. Garlic mushrooms, sirloin steak with vegetables and chunky chips (steak cooked exactly as requested) and cheesecake to finish, all for less than £15. Secondly, we had the... More

Visited as a family and ate al a carte not the usual 3 courses for as cheap as you like. To be honest wished we stayed on the cheap and cheerful as the food was all the same. What lets this restaurant down are the appalling trying to be comedic staff. They are so in your face it's embarrassing.

Great atmosphere, good, friendly service and well situated to the Travelodge next door. The food was excellent value with offers available. I had a seafood cocktail, rib eye steak with a pepper sauce, followed by cheesecake. All were well presented and thoroughly top nosh, all for £12.95! I would highly recommend.
