I have been to the Poachers many times and it never fails to impress. The food is simply exquisite. I love the refurbishment, so modern. For my family and I The Poachers is a lot more than the usual run of the mill pub. I can honestly say that I have never eaten somewhere that has this style without paying... More

wow.. I can't believe some of the very negative remarks on here about the Poachers ! I live only a few miles away and eat here on a regualr basis (or even sometimes pop in for a drink) I am yet to have a bad meal in this establishment which is why I always return for good homecooked food (none... Our latest visit to the Poachers again did not disappoint. We all chose the giant Yorkshire pudding with roast beef / sausage with chips or veg. The beef was really tasty, gravy nice and thick with loads of flavour. Proper chips that are so moorish. On this occasion we did have a pudding, choc fudge brownie, toffee stacker, both were... Had a very enjoyable family meal(for mothers day)at the Poachers, metal bridge, durham.varied menu and huge portions.in fact for the children the size of the meal was just to much and quite a bit was left on the plate. This pub/ restaurant gets very busy sso sometimes you do have to wait for a table.Lovely meals at reasonable prices..If I had one grumble... We went to restaurant on a Saturday afternoon and it was fairly busy, so we sat right at the back. When I went to order the food at the bar, I was left stood for five minutes or so, as several servers rushed around, in and out of the kitchen, ignoring me. When one of them finally acknowledged and served... More

Haven't been to the Poachers for a while, so thought I would see if they still did great value meals, served piping hot in a pleasant environment. Yes, yes and yes. They still do. Have read some mixed reviews on here; think there may be some kind of turf or should I say food war going on, but I can... More

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast here recently. Top notch food. Grumpy bar staff was its only downfall in my eyes, then again, they were ran-off their feet and let's face it, I went there with the intention of busting the button on my trousers not to have niceties at the bar. Chef done a fab job.

Recently visited this place with my work friends and I have to say I wasn't impressed at all ! First impressions wernt good as we were told earlier on that day we couldn't book a table for 6 the minimum was 8 which is ridiculous as when we arrived we had to wait 40 minutes before finally getting seated. We... More
