Description: We’re proper cooks, serving real British food, cooked properly. We don’t mess around with our food. We cook it simply, without flashy sauces, so the quality of the ingredients speak for themselves. The ingredients that go into our kitchen come from local farms and suppliers, some of whom we’ve known for years, like Joe Simpson of Cockfield, who rears, slaughters and butchers his own beef, Ian Alexander of Raby Estates with his fantastic venison and Carol Peacock from Sedgefield who makes world-beating blue cheese. Our veg comes from the local markets and our recipes are based on real British dishes with heritage.

Great food, great service, friendly staff and very good value for money. Been quite few times now using the various voucher sites and every visit has been exceptional - my only complaint is I wish we still had an Oldfields in Darlington to save us travelling to Durham. Even after adding on the cost of the rail fare the value... More

Myself and my father enjoyed a first class meal at Oldfield's restaurant, The food was delicious and the decor of the restaurant was delightful. I do however think that the service could have been a little faster, as there were a table of delegates that were rather demanding and as a result our food was late in arriving. Our server... More

We've had many excellent meals at Oldfields, both as theatre "walk ins" and via Groupon offers. We all enjoyed everything but there were special compliments for the Chicken Livers, the "blue" steak and the Fig Trifle (which we all shared). The staff were very good, which hasn't always been the case. Colin the manager was excellent. Looking forward to our... More

We have dined many times at Oldfields. It did not disappoint. Good food and very good service . After a starter and a main course, we were too 'stuffed' for dessert!

visited on a groupon offer had a lovely meal the food was fab and although we had a hiccup with our order it was the staff that made the difference they realised the problem and corrected compensating us with a drink it but it was their manner and the banter that made an ordinary night special!!

We've been visiting this restaurant on a fairly regular basis for a number of years. However, a few months ago we had a couple of meals which weren't up to the usual high standard, but now feel it's 'back on track' and visited twice in the last three days, once on a Friday lunchtime and then on Sunday evening with... One of our favourite places to eat. Service is first class and we love the veggie food. You always feel welcome here.
