NEVER disappoints!

Another fabulous meal at Bells! The cod and chips were delicious. The cod was so succulent with batter that was light and crispy - perfect. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. I have now visited Bells on several occasions and it has always been of this same high standard. No matter what day... read more

Absolutely lovely food. I had the salmon and chips and they were lovely. The service was quick and the staff were very friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this place to eat.

The food was fab, however we found the staff were exceptionally rude and inconsiderate rushing us out the restaurant as soon as we had finished. We did not feel like we should leave a tip because they took away our plates when we were still trying to drink our gravy. I do not recommend the restaurant facility, especially woman with... More

Just read the two 'awful' reviews posted on 14th March, and couldn't disagree more, so have been motivated to write my first ever Trip Adviser review! We pre-booked as my youngest nephew (aged 6) desperately wanted to go to Bell's for his birthday tea with the whole family, on the 13th March. Service was great and timely, staff were helpful... Pleased I happened to be there on Saturday when the couple with the disappointed little boy came into Bells. The staff had been preparing two tables for another family with a wheelchair user and this couple didn't seem able to grasp the fact that the tables were reserved. Bells do a fantastic job in a quite cramped space and my... More

Visited today with my little boy after he had been asking for fish and chips all morning. When we arrived we were told the restaurant was full even though i could see 2 empty tables?! To make matters worse as i turned around to leave i noticed the table of 3 that had fallowed us in were seated straight away... More

This is one of two reviews by the same couple; which says a lot about their motivation. They were unable to take two free tables which had previously been telephone reserved for a disabled person. Our staff were delivering our promise of excellent service, as previous reviews will testify. The family group that subsequently came in and occupied those tables... More

Walked in here on Saturday lunch time with my little boy who had been asking for chips all morning. When we arrived we got told the restaurant was full even tho I could clearly see 2 empty tables! To make thing worse as I was turning around to leave a table of 3 walked in and got seated immediately! Didn't... More

These reviews are very inappropriate and it only takes a glance at previous customer reviews to see that at Bells we take service very seriously indeed. We want all our customers to enjoy their food and have a pleasant visit. The explanation for what occurred here is very simple; a family group - including a disabled person - had previously... More

My husband and I intended visiting the restaurant yesterday. Unfortunately I have the most dreadful cold.We didn't think it fair to attend so we went to the take- away at Gilesgate instead. What a fabulous meal.Quite the nicest fish and chips we have had for many a year.I can recommend them to anyone who loves good food! Thank You BELLS

Visited on Saturday night with a large party and a disabled guest staff were helpful in seating us accessibly. Menu is extensive and we chose a variety of items all were judged hot and delicious when they arrived. All staff we encountered were very helpful. Our only criticism was that the restaurant itself was chilly and we had to eat... More
