This is our second visit to Durham in 9 months and so we knew where to go for a good fish and chip meal and once again we were not disappointed. You may pay a few bob more but the quality is worth it. Good traditional fish and chip establishments are becoming rarer even in the north of Britain these... More

Very expensive for what they were. The batter was too crispy and over done, and the chips too large and u under cooked. You are also paying a significant amount for the "box" advertise the outlet. There are significantly better, and cheaper outlets in town, if you care to search. I won't return!

Delicious fish and chips, great service and good surroundings. I saw that Bells had good reviews and we weren't disappointed. Best fish and chips I have had in a long time. We had to wait 5 to 10 minutes to get a table as it was busy but the staff turned the tables quickly. They have a good range of... More

visited on a busy Saturday lunch, the fish was fresh and nicely battered as expected so that was pleasing. It is worth mentioning that the service could have been a little faster, and it was difficult to get the attention of staff so my cup of tea refill never happened and nor did the ketchup arrive. Room for improvement but... More

By far the best chippy in Durham, both the one in town and on Gilesgate. Lovely menu with the ability to sit in or take away, lovely range of local sustainable fish with changing recommendations.

The fish and chips are great. And personally I like my chips NOT soggy, so getting them fresh on your plate is a treat. Good range of fish- not just cod and haddock but also sole, salmon, sea bass and scampi if I remember right. The location - in the market place - is perfect. Staff friendly. And they were... More

Went here when I was in Durham for a course. Had a Haddock and Chips (had to have a large Haddock as they had run out of regular). This is the best fish and chips I've had in as long as I can remember, good sized piece of really tasty, creamy, flakey Haddock and really good chips. Waitress was very... More
