As it was our first visit to Durham we didn't know where was good to go for a meal. We went for a drink in a local pub and asked the bar staff where they recommended and they both said straight away, 'The Court'. We decided to give it a try and were so glad we did, it was fabulous!... More

The Court Inn has changed immensely since I was at university in Durham about six years ago. What used to be a dingy dark pub, with cheap greasy meals is now a bright, vibrant, welcoming pub with fresh and delicious food. The menu is absolutely incredible, and we will definitely be revisiting to try some of the interesting options on... More

Having lived in Durham all of my life I have seen "the Court" change hands a few times and to be honest my visits in the past have been hit and miss as far as food quality goes. However the latest landlord seems to be working hard to get it right and I have visited twice for Sunday Lunch over the... It's been a while since we are here, at one time it was every week. Both our meals were good quality ( I had Belly Pork & my Wife had the grandmas delight - or something like that) . The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because I thought the Timothy Taylor's Landlord ale was too expensive... More

We stumbled across the Court Inn by accident as we were staying nearby, what a happy accident that was! We went on a Monday evening, which we understand is usually quiet but on this occasion it was packed. There is a very nice bar area where you can eat, but there is also a dedicated restaurant around the back. We... More

The Court Inn is a little hard to find as it is up a small street off a larger street; but it is worth the effort to find. The food was very good, my chicken w/bacon and BBQ sauce was excellent. The Court Inn has a dining room area that is separate (and quieter) than the pub. I'd certainly return... More

Having worked myself for many years in the hospitality industry, I hardly ever complain unless it's absolutely necessary. I visited today with my family and we were absolutely disgusted by the food. We opted for the £6.50 hot and cold buffet which sounded great as I was starving so this meant that we did not have to wait for food... More

Sunday lunch carvery. Pork very dry and flaked rather than carved. Beef good. Vegetables good in the main but mashed potato lumpy and swede mash very watery with lumps. Plates cold so meals quickly cooled. Surroundings very pleasant as were staff, apart from the chef who appeared rather taciturn. Drinks expensive.

Stumbled upon this lovely pub by accident today while visiting Durham. What a lovely suprise ! The menu was varied with lots of traditional and also some more unusual dishes which l would love to try sometime. I decided on the scampi, which arrived promptly and very well presented, the scampi was well cooked and fresh and the ample chips... More
