good food , reasonable prices

An upstairs cafe accessed by a step staircase but well worth the climb. Food is plentiful and well presented and all at a reasonable price. The corned beef pie is ok but could do with a little more corned beef but is tasty and comes with a very good salad. The only criticism is the cafe can get... read more

The food here is lovely, the owner always makes sure you are satisfied, the portions are big and tasty, and if you can't eat it all, they will wrap it up for you to take home

Just over a fiver, for a large English breakfast, including drinks and plenty of toast jam etc, spoke for itself. The cafe itself is quite pleasant, once you climb the steps. I can understand some comments regarding service. No complaints from us really, but there was confusion as to whether it was table or counter service.

Fantastic coffee shop huge fabulous cakes and the most amazing corned beef pie. When I lived in Durham in the 80's this was a great place where I used to take my small daughter for a treat and it still delights 30 years later. Keep up the food work! Warm and welcoming staff thank you.

Popped in on the spur of the moment for a quick bite before an early cinema showing. Staff were really friendly despite it being near closing and even gave us a free scone! Highly recommended.

Have visited Treats a number of times with my girlfriend, and each visit was progressively worse than the last. The first time was excellent, had no complaints at all. The second time we visited, the table had crumbs on it and a blue cloth so it was clear somebody was half way through cleaning it and had stopped. The woman... More

Called in here on Friday with my fiance.Waited outside for ten minutes but it is worth the wait.My fiance had the all day breakfast and I had the baked potato with tuna. Both were delicious and this cafe certainly does not scrimp with their portions. The lady who served me I have not seen before. She had a bandage on her hand... More

During a visit to Durham last weekend, we popped in on spec, just before 12.00 noon last Saturday ...... just in time for my other half to enjoy a the "before 12 noon, 5 item breakfast" for £2.99! Superb! Treats is a quaint, immaculately clean, and clearly very busy coffee shop. Staff are friendly and service is great. Their selection... More

Hears this was a good place to go, but was really disappointed when I took my children there after school as we had a late appointment in Durham. It is no good if you have any sort of disability as there are steep stairs to climb to get to the café. The staff, on our visit, seemed totally disinterested in... More
