The best cafe in Durham and I am stingy and hard to please. Very cheap, massive portions, very tasty and great value for money. If you're doing the miners gala thing just take up a window seat in there, eat cake all day, look at the art and enjoy the procession go past. Staff are always very helpful, willing to... More

I don't visit Durham too often but each time I do I always look forward to having lunch in Treats having been told about it by a friend. The food is always of good quality, with generous portions and very reasonably priced. For such a small place the choice of food is excellent and on my last visit I discovered... More

What a welcoming place, the owner Kieran is a very nice bloke and makes everyone feel welcome. We would go everyday of the week, but after one week would not fit through the door. Highly recommended all the cakes.

Treats is well worth a visit - an incredible selection of cakes and simple meals on offer. The seating area was all clean and tidy and the staff were friendly and efficient. We only had drinks and cakes but the portion sizes are huge - if you only have a small appetite I would suggest you share! We had carrot... More

My family loves to eat at Treats. It will get crowded during the lunch hour and so it is good to be patient. The line will extend down the stairs at times. In addition to the delicious baked goods, affordability, and generous portions, we have always felt welcome here at Treats and have truly enjoyed visiting. The staff are one... More

My mother and I often visit Treats. At 75 yrs old and with a bad back she is still happy to visit despite the stairs, as the food is so good. It's value for money. The portions are generous. The cakes are amazing and HUGE. We visited on Friday (20 June) and this was the first time they have had... More

This place feels and looks like a cafe in a hospital, the decor is very plain. It feels very cramp with such close tables packed into s small place, feels like you are sitting on top of one another. The tea order was wrong and was not of a good standard. One good thing is the food, the cakes and... More

As per usual, great service, good atmosphere and significant amount of food for the extremely reasonable price! Unable to eat any starch products, the staff at treats always accomodate to my dietary needs and make a personalized dish without hesitation which is hard to come by in many other restaurants! I would find it hard to draw any negatives from... More

The food apart, the whole experience was terrible. The service was at a counter and you take the stuff to your own table. The staff were more interested in their own conversation than clearing and cleaning tables. Our table was really quite dirty. The food was tasty and well-presented and they were large portions. The tea order was for wrong... More
