Best cafe in town

We found Treats to be the best place to eat in town. The breakfast was spot on and had Yorkshire tea! We also had lunch and tea and cakes there again everything was excellent. We looked at other places but could not find any place better. I thoroughly recommend this place.

It's a great location (on your way up to the cathedral). The atmosphere is great and because it's on the second floor it's a great place to hang out and people watch. Coffee was great too.

Our first visit to Durham town centre so we could have chosen anywhere for breakfast but something just drew us in. We were not disappointed as the cafe was bright and airy. Service was good and the full English was fantastic.

We are strangers to Durham and asked a member of M and S where was a good place to eat. He recommended Treats and we weren't disappointed. The setting was 'in keeping' with an ancient city with suitable furnishings etc. You will be made very welcome should you decide to eat in Treats

Great place for lunch. Always busy friendly staff and a good choice of food and drinks. Reasonable price and good quality food for a quick snack. When we are in Durham always our 1st choice to eat or drink.

I have written several reviews of this restaurant about how they serve large portions of very tasty wholesome food at very reasonable prices. All the food is clearly home made and cooked to order. Visited with my guide dog and support worker recently. I ordered a cheese, chicken and onion baguette, chips and a diet coke, My support worker ordered... More

Recommended by afriend from the area, we were not disappointed. Quality home cooked dishes, reasonably priced, with friendly staff (on hand for a little local history advice)

It was a very busy Saturday afternoon which is why I think my order was misplaced, however it was a delicious Croque Monsieur with lovely cheese and ham. Would recommend, however make sure they don't misplace your ticket!

Hi, thanks for taking the time on Trip Advisor - I do apologise for the delay in your order, we try to get the orders out as soon as possible, but occasionally we can get it wrong. The croque toasted sandwiches are really popular ,try our bacon and brie next time on us just to say thanks! Jules More

Hidden up a stair case, this cafe produces brilliant home made food and great value for money. Very friendly Staff. Much better than the usual fair served up by Costa or bigger cafes or restaurants.

Up a steep stair in middle of Durham City. Worth the climb. Good place to meet friends for lunch, morning coffee or afternoon tea. Plenty of choice for informal lunch and wonderful cake & scones. Soup of day tasty & filling and good value. Staff friendly and very hard-working to make sure you are well-served. Good humour. Been going for... More
