Truly excellent cappuccino

This little character-filled nook of a cafe is hidden away off the main street and is well worth seeking out. We had the finest cappuccinos of our entire UK trip here. Didn't try the food as we had just eaten. You can sit on a terrace outside or inside which is charmingly cramped with small... read more

Called in here a couple of days ago having read the reviews, it has a nice atmosphere and is away from the Main Street whilst still central. I'm afraid I was disappointed with the food. My partner reported that his ham and cheese croissant was good but my quiche had overlooked pastry and so many tomatoes that there was no... More

Been for food a couple of times and it did not disappoint, loved it! Recently had the white hot chocolate and it was divine, could have drunk a litre of it! At around £2.70 it was more than I would spend on one drink, I mean it wasn't massive and had no cream or anything, but, great for an odd... More

When the super friendly waitress cheerfully (and unasked) carried our heavy packs, on in each hand, up two flights of stairs, I thought, you don't usually get this kind, friendly service anywere! The staff were all young, attractive and charming. The food - sandwiches, cakes, small meals - was perfect: simple food, done to perfection. The ambience is friendly, relaxed,... More

After spending 3 years at Uni here I finally decided to try out this little Gem next to Klute. Everyone kept talking about it and I can see why. Great, really really great coffee and a brilliant sandwich, perfect for a lunchtime treat. The only downside is trying to find a seat, as it is very busy during lunchtime hours,... More

I've been visiting here for a few years now, it has become very popular and so can be difficult to get a table. The staff are friendly and the coffee and cakes are really good too. The specials are also good.

Went for a late Saturday lunch but still queued for a table At this brisk and popular venue. We had snacks of baked eggs chorizo pepper and the lamb, kale and barley soup. All very nice and good size portions. Staff efficient and polite, will certainly go again.

This is a great quaint little cafe that serves excellent quality coffee and scrumptious cakes! The only downside is thats its so small you can never get a seat, but, alas..... They now have a larger sister restaurant around the corner on Saddler St which serves a wide variety of food! The coffee is great but if you a more... More

Best coffee shop / bistro in Durham City by a million miles - tho be prepared to queue! The salt beef hash with a poached egg is to die for, follow it up with a date and oat slice and a large americano - unbeatable. Great atmosphere, decor and staff - just that bloody queue!!
