After reading reviews on tripadvisor I took my Mam to Claypath Deli today. A "grinder" sandwich (goats cheese, sun ripened tomato and olives), veggie platter (Goats cheese salad, hummus, olives, hallomi, bread and oil and sun ripened tomato), coffee (good quality americano) and can of pop (san pelligrino) came to £12.65. We shared everything and I was more than full.... More

The food here is reasonably priced and so delicious. Good coffee and a lovely relaxing atmosphere. I look forward to our next visit.

Had a very good lunch-would go back in a heart beat. Nice atmosphere. It's a little bit of a walk from the square.

Visited this cafe on the recommendation of our son - excellent choice. What a lovely relaxed little place. Food was simply delicious, I had the Spanish sandwich - flavours were outstanding, husband had the pastrami and loved it and our son opted for what he describes as the best bacon sandwich even. Coffee was also excellent. Really pleasant, friendly staff.... More

I have to admit that the atmosphere is good, not amazing but good enough for lunch time; however I visited the place twice (the first time I had the chorizo sandwich and the second one I had the spanish ham sandwich) and both times I experienced terrible burning sensation in stomach and being sick. It's a local independent coffee shop... More

Had been meaning to pop in here for a while and was really pleasantly surprised by the menu. I went for the vegan option: 'grinder' with hummus, olives and sun-dried tomatoes, served with a couple of dolmades. This rather generous brunch was washed down with a large glass of freshly home-made lemonade which was delicious. All together it was under... More

I had lunch here and loved it. The menu provided something a bit different from the usual sandwiches and salads. Everything looks very good and wholesome and they claim are locally sourced. I had grilled halloumi cheese, with hummus, and salad leaves, with stuffed vine leaves on the side and to drink, lychee juice. It was a pity I was so... More

A short - 5/10 minutes - stroll up Claypath from the market place, this little cafe is one of Durham's treats. They serve an interesting range of snacks and drinks, often using locally sourced organic products. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed, and the clientele a nice mix of students, locals and visitors.

Perfect spot for good coffee, friendly service and home cooked food! Perfect location as a little walk from the city centre and off the beaten-student track.
