Excellent!

Visited the Castle Eden Inn for Sunday lunch. I hadn't been for 20 + years and was impressed. Attentive staff served us drinks and offered a window seat in the dining room which was lovely. The contemporary decor combined with crisp white tablecloths was a pleasant sight. Roast lamb,pink... read more

Went here as a group of work colleagues just before Christmas. Really looked forward to it but every course was attempted style over substance. 3 scallops on a fancy plate does not make a starter. Very small portion of sea bass for main...3 or 4 small portions of potatoes underneath. Prices quite high for the area. Would not hasten back.

As a member of a group of 16 I was looking towards something really special how disappointed I was. The meals had been preordered before said date however came out at different times leaving some waiting a lot longer than others. I cannot excuse a under cooked chicken as one member of our party was served. Very disappointed with table... More

We went on a Friday night as a couple after recommendations from friends Pros - nice relaxed atmosphere - friendly staff - my starter of Stilton and walnut orzotto was lovely - my husband enjoyed the rabbit starter and his steak and ale pie with home cooked chips - there was a 3 course special for £18 which we didn't... Popped in today for Sunday lunch. Very impressed. We had the salmon and prawn fish cakes and black pudding and poached egg salad followed by 1 lamb and 1 beef dinner. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious, service was good and the total bill for dinner plus drinks was unbelievably good value at around £50.

My husband and I often eat here and have never been disappointed. We visited for Burns Night with a number of friends who were all happy with the service and the food. The menu was vast and each course was delicious in particular the main course, although full up we still managed the pudding! We stayed later than we thought... More

We went for a family meal on Saturday evening, starters two of us had the scallops which arrived cold, to which they replaced and still only warm hot plates would have helped maybe! Soup looked very nice, my husband had garlic mushrooms on toast 1 mushroom, medium size which was ok. Mains steak & ale pie pastry very hard &... More

I've been to the pub for food pretty much twice a month for the last year or so, and in doing so, eaten pretty much everything on the menu. I agree, sometimes it's maybe a tad overpriced, and sometimes one or two of waiting staff can be a little bit young/quiet/inexperienced, but on the whole, I have to say the... More

I've eaten here a good few times and I've always wanted to come back. There was a point early last year when I thought the menu went down just a touch, but still good enough to keep going back. It seems as the year went on it got better and better. A few of us visited toward Christmas and enjoyed... More
