First visit, won't be the last

My wife and myself visiting Finnbar's for the first time for lunch, what a delight, could not fault anything, food, service, decor position. Reasonable value we had set three course lunch menu at £18 plus a 10%service charge. Some people object to the service charge but on this occasion we were very... read more

came here for a lovely dinner with friends, that I tried to organise via email and over the phone - both services that I was incredibly disappointed by. For one replying to emails "finbarrs" and not a name does not reassure customers that we are talking to someone who cares, we know who we're emailing! The personal touch would've been... More

This is an excellent restaurant - service and food excellent, and staff so friendly. My husband and I along with my very pregnant daughter (baby due any day now) had a leisurely lunch here. My daughter has Coeliac so needed gluten free food and this wasn't a problem. A member of staff talked her through the menu explaining what she... More

I've busted a few times and almost always felt the food was very good indeed. Not on this occasion I'm afraid. The room is pleasant, and there is a good atmosphere. The staff are very good and everything is very well presented, but the fish soup was very poor one prawn and one small cube of white fish in a... More

Having eaten here several times, I took a friend for a birthday lunch. We were warmly greeted, shown to our table immediately and given wine and food menus. We chose a house white. It was well chilled and very pleasant. The menu featured many locally sourced ingredients and was comprehensive. The meal was excellent and definitely freshly cooked. The service... More

This is well-run restaurant with young helpful staff and an interesting menu. They don't do cocktails. We had the hot pea soup: it was exceptionally good, full of flavour and very smooth. Then we had the roast beef. This is always a good test, because my wife likes well-done, whereas I like it rare, and very thinly sliced. Finbarrs produced... More

In early February I visited this restaurant for the first time, and wrote a top review. My wife and I decided to visit it again to see if the Sunday lunch was just as enjoyable. - It was. The restaurant was not particularly busy when we arrived at about 12.45pm,with about 20 or so people dining. We enjoyed a drink... More

Wonderful food and excellent service don't like the 10% service charge Add 10% the the meal cost, and be up front about it Do the Staff need this ? Pay a fair wage and let customer reward good service genuinely

We pre-booked this restaurant after reading the revues online so expectations were high. We were not disappointed having arrived 30 minutes early for our table we were taken straight in and seated. We ordered and were served within minutes. The food was outstanding from the meats to the vegetables. The wine (Rioja) was well priced and tasted fantastic. Service was... More
