Very nice spot for lunch. My friend and i (in our fifties) seemed much the youngest in the room - perhaps testament to the power of the grey pound. Building work around the place made it very difficult to park, but we found the room very pleasant and the food and service were both very good indeed.

Staying in Durham for the weekend at Radisson Blu. Finbarr's is walkable (10 minutes). Booked in advance for an August Saturday night - almost full. Lovely casual atmosphere. Great food - we each had different salads to start, followed by monkfish tail, dessert or sweet and coffee washed down with a nice white wine. Each course was delicious and well... More

I was early and the staff were very attentive and had that lovely Durham charm. With an eye closed they sensed I was not top of the class at vision and they were gently attentive in a sensitive but non patronising way when the guided me to the bar and then the restaurant. I am not sensitive about being registered... More

Fortunately we were told by B&B to book so busy when we arrived and when we left some tables reset and used shows how popular with locals. Food sublime well priced and well served by friendly staff, cannot praise it enough

Picked based on reviews as a venue to meet up with some friends in Durham while holidaying in North of England. Not disappointed at all. The lunchtime menu offered a good choice of 2/3 courses or a la carte. Staff were attentive without being intrusive and we ended up staying for three hours chatting away. Food was high quality and... What can I say, food first rate, service first class, a lovely time between the different courses, ambiance lovely, table perfect, overall total perfection. I would highly recommend.

We had heard great things about finbarr's and eagerly awaited our visit. There was nothing I can put my finger on that makes Finbarr's bad but it is totally lacking in atmosphere and the food is very nice but not a patch on other top places in the area.Certainly not great value for money either , even when choosing the... From the moment we arrived into the bar area we were continually asked to go to our table, considering 1 famiy member had travelled from Nottingham and another 3 from Manchester, we were wanting time in the bar area for a relaxing drink, prior to going to table.Table booked for a party of 8, for my Mam's birthday celebrations, I... This is the best restaurant I have ever been to. The prices are reasonable, flavours and presentation sensational and service is really good. I shall definitely come back to Durham, simply to experience this food. Despite living in London, nothing has matched this yet. Also gave a free bottle of prosecco for a birthday for a small table and a... More
