Have eaten here once, well when i say eaten here we had a booking but never got to eat as the restaurant was overly busy but severely understaffed so we gave up waiting. Gave them a 2nd chance by ordering takeaway for valentines that we had to wait over an hour and a half for, it turned up in a... More

I love the food at the Gurkha. It is so tasty and delicious, full of spices and oozing with flavour. In my opinion, the Gurkha is the best Nepalese/Indian restaurant in North Devon. The prices are not cheap- but you get what you pay for. You're paying for taste and quality. They have a comfortable, family friendly restaurant in town... More

My family and I wanted something a little different to the usual Indian meal. The service and food provided by the husband and wife owners was with warmth and was excellent. We asked for an amended version of one of their dishes due to my two young daughters. The dish was made fresh and exactly to our requirements. And you... More

I visited the restaurant in December 2014 for a Christmas party with work colleagues. The interior was very nicely decorated with various Nepalese artefacts on the walls and traditional Nepalese music was played throughout our visit. We were also made to feel very welcome by the staff at the entrance. For starter I had onion bhajis which came with a... More

Food was of good standard but waitor hovered over our table once we had finished our meal making us feel rushed to leave! We weren't able to enjoy the meal as a result! Not very good manners at all!

A fantastic homely restaurant. Great service and great food. Very good menu choice that you don't see in your local restaurants. Try it, you won't regret, you will just become a regular !

We have now eaten here every time we visit Barnstaple. There is a very good vegetarian choice and in particular the Nepalese dishes are different from the usual bog-standard Indian choices with some different and subtle spices. My favorite dish is the chilli paneer, although this time it was much milder - so ask if you like your food hot!... More

The service was impeccable, the atmosphere was absolutely calming and peaceful, the layout perfectly accomodating. We always require larger tables as we try out a lots of different thing on the menu.
