62 The Bank creates great flavours from around the globe. It's a wonderful place to meet up with friends and linger over a coffee, lunch or an evening meal. With an eclectic lunch & evening menu including seafood, Piri Piri dishes, salads, grills, house specials, and of course desserts there's sure to be something for everyone at 62 The Bank. The stylish brasserie is set in an extraordinary building, originally a merchant's house over 300 years ago, when Barnstaple was a bustling trading centre. The staggeringly beautiful Tudor ceiling was completed by members of the school of North Devon Plasterers in 1620. Since 1760, the building has been used by the public - first as the Golden Lion Inn, then the Golden Lion Hotel in the 19th century and then as a High Street bank for nearly forty years in the mid twentieth century. Now, this atmospheric building is restored to its former glory and, as in its heyday when it housed the Golden Lion, it is again a place where you can eat, drink and be merry.

Great looking restaurant and good food

I visited with a large party of around 25 people and the service and attention from the waiting staff was excellent. Considering there were so many of us, there was no long wait for the food and we were all served at the same time. The food itself was lovely and tasty and very well presented. No... read more

had an evening out here and ended up waiting for over an hour before the food was brought out (we had even pre-booked along with what we wanted to eat). White wine was served warm and food wasn't all that good.

I came here and enjoyed the ribs that they offer here! It is good value for the portion sizes you get.

I've never looked twice at 62 The Bank but went in for lunch today and the portions were absolutely huge, really comfortable inside and the desserts were amazing. The staff seemed a bit hit and miss but no complaints.

We expected nothing special, but were we suprised? Really great intellegent and attractive girls serving us, all with a good sense of humour; they served us very enjoyable food and nice wines and, i am ashamed to say, as mature couples, we were the last to leave- and we didn't want to!

The first thing I noticed was that the tables for 2 people were too small. The second was that it seemed that front of house staff was not in control of the kitchen. We had not finished our appetizer when the main course arrived. I noticed this also happened with a party on the next table. Now the good things.... More

62 The Bank is definitely nearer the top end of restaurants in Barnstaple. It's lively, clean, professionally run, the staff are great and the food is decent. OK to my mind it lacks a bit of character/identity and the menu is essentially upmarket Wetherspoons but there's nothing wrong with that if the food backs it up. It caters for all... More

Have visited the bank on two occasions. Firstly, for my birthday meal with a group of friends. We were well looked after and the food was really good. Steak cooked exactly how is asked it to be cooked. Secondly for my partners birthday. Peach bellinis were really good and the food was again great. I would recommended eating here for... More
