Description: 62 The Bank creates great flavours from around the globe. It's a wonderful place to meet up with friends and linger over a coffee, lunch or an evening meal. With an eclectic lunch & evening menu including seafood, Piri Piri dishes, salads, grills, house specials, and of course desserts there's sure to be something for everyone at 62 The Bank. The stylish brasserie is set in an extraordinary building, originally a merchant's house over 300 years ago, when Barnstaple was a bustling trading centre. The staggeringly beautiful Tudor ceiling was completed by members of the school of North Devon Plasterers in 1620. Since 1760, the building has been used by the public - first as the Golden Lion Inn, then the Golden Lion Hotel in the 19th century and then as a High Street bank for nearly forty years in the mid twentieth century. Now, this atmospheric building is restored to its former glory and, as in its heyday when it housed the Golden Lion, it is again a place where you can eat, drink and be merry.

Family funeral, 25 people decided at 3pm to go out that night, rang 62 The Bank were in. Rang at 3pm sat down at 7,45pm, a litte slow to start but given the time they had to prepare it was overall a very good dining experience. Most of the guys had a steak all good and prepared to order, very... More

The building is part of the Royal & Fortiscue Hotel all but seperate and decorated with oak panelled walls and ornate ceilings, the food & drinks on the menu are interesting but not to my taste they are more geared to the richer diet/palette - most dishes are a bit stodgy and finished with cheese, mayonnaise or creamy sauces an... We sat on the raised portion looking out the window and it was lovely and atmospheric, not too loud with a fabulous ceiling. The fajitas were delicious and too much for us to eat after a mixed starter (they were good about swapping something we didn't like for something we did) and they happily gave us a doggy bag. I'd... Came here for our Christmas meal which may have been the reason it isn't getting a review as good as the others. The starter was very average, as a vegetarian I could only eat the mozerella dippers which weren't anything special. I had a seafood linguine for my main which was disappointing, there was a lack of sauce, the prawns... More

The Restaurant has a lovely felling to it. Some tables are a bit close but you do not notice once you have sat down. The food is of a good quality, basic without fuss. I would suggest you do not use the Restaurant if they place you in the back room as this lacks the ambiance of the front and... More

Its a busy place so there was a wait for the food. But thats the only moan. Food was delicious and plentiful and service was genuinely friendly. I loved the wood panelling, it gives it atmosphere which nowadays with all the chain pubs hard to find. I will definitely stopping again for lunch.

excellent food and service. Waitress very friendly and helpful. Part of the Lord Fortescue hotel so you can go internally between the 2 establishments as well as put food & drink on your hotel bill which makes life easy.
