Description: 62 The Bank creates great flavours from around the globe. It's a wonderful place to meet up with friends and linger over a coffee, lunch or an evening meal. With an eclectic lunch & evening menu including seafood, Piri Piri dishes, salads, grills, house specials, and of course desserts there's sure to be something for everyone at 62 The Bank. The stylish brasserie is set in an extraordinary building, originally a merchant's house over 300 years ago, when Barnstaple was a bustling trading centre. The staggeringly beautiful Tudor ceiling was completed by members of the school of North Devon Plasterers in 1620. Since 1760, the building has been used by the public - first as the Golden Lion Inn, then the Golden Lion Hotel in the 19th century and then as a High Street bank for nearly forty years in the mid twentieth century. Now, this atmospheric building is restored to its former glory and, as in its heyday when it housed the Golden Lion, it is again a place where you can eat, drink and be merry.

Stopped today for a bite of lunch and ended up having a main meal. Had the Banks Famous Ribs. Excellent. Huge ribs in a delicious BBQ sauce superbly cooked as the meat just fell off the bone. Definitely have found our regular lunch spot when in Barnstaple shopping. Really friendly and helpful staff.

Went here for a family meal for my birthday, there was 17 of us so we had to pre order. The service was very good, the staff all look very smart and were brilliant even though the... More

If you are looking for a 'light' bite for lunch, you will not be disappointed at 62 The Bank. Food was excellent with more than generous portions, and the service we received (our waitress was Page) was first class. Polite, attentive, efficient, service of the highest quality, in a beautiful building steeped in history. Certainly a must visit if you... More

This establishment provides good quality dining in an amazing setting. The setting is a former bank. Oak panels are all around the room. The ceiling is the thing that really sets this apart. It is a high quality 17th century plastered with figures and shapes. Evidently a highly skilled plasterers guild was based in this part of North Devon so... More

Me and my partner constantly return to 62 the bank and as the menu has changed two or three times this is explained to us everytime we book so we are not disapointed when we arrive. We never are disapointed as the food gets better everytime. We are always seated immediately and dont have the awkward waitress asking our order... More
