Called in for tea/early evening meal on a sunny Saturday - yesterday - what an absolute disappointment. The food was bland, particularly my husbands. His chicken dish was served like a piece of broiled chicken breast floating on a 'thin' veg soup!!!!!! It was disgusting and bland. We wouldn't have been as shocked if we had been told the truth... I must say, reading through the previous two or three reviews offends me. I am one of the MANY people that strongly believe that The Ship Inn is a pub that has certainly improved under new management. The only people, and too quote "Off their trolleys" are the previous couple of reviewers. When me and couple of friends visited a... More

Visited The Ship at Roose, Barrow in Furness, on a sweltering hot Wednesday tea time 23rd July 2014. To enjoy the lovely beer garden and ‘sink’ a couple of pints of Lager and enjoy a bite to eat. Two of us duly ordered two pints of Peroni and my wife a dry White Wine. SORRY. No Lager at all or... More

I too was in the Ship Inn, Roose, on the same Sunday as the previous two reviewers. Sunday 27th July 2014. I can also confirm there was not a choice of Sunday roasts. Only Honey Roast Ham, which I don’t care for. The week before only Roast Lamb, no other choices. What is happening?. Visited twice now for Sunday Lunch,... More

Visited The Ship last weekend, nice setting and friendly staff. Hubby had Cumberland sausage and mash and said it was yummy, i would recommend the steak pie in a shortcrust pastry which was absolutely delicious but the accompany chips were not cooked through. Granddaughter had chicken nuggets which she declared were delicious, (although not many of them). The deserts were... More

I too was in the Ship on the same Sunday that the previous reviewer visited and I can confirm that there wasn't a choice of Sunday roast due to " a large party due in......". This is the second successive weekend that we have visited this pub to be told that the Sunday roast was limited to one type of... More

No sunday roast or steak pie because had a large party in that had pre-booked, why was more not ordered in to cater for this? Basic meals 10 pieces scampi, handful of fries and tiny dish peas nearly £10. Sticky toffee pud with table spoon of cream, that dry didn't eat it. Told waiter after we paid, said he'd pass... More

I celebrated my XX birthday at this pub mid July this year. The 10 of us were given a nice area to sit in, we were well looked after by the staff, the food was really good, and the price was within my planned budget. A really good night had by all. Thank you.
