What a huge improvement this place has made since the change of management/ownership. We were a family party of five, and the three carnivores had an excellent meal. The lamb was tender and tasty, and the steak and chips was perfectly cooked. The wine list is very good indeed for "pub grub". Unfortunately the vegetarian options are very disappointing -... More

Went here tonight as a party of four. Nice surroundings and as it was a Sundat went for the roast. Although very nice and a good portion we felt the starters, which equally were very nice were quite overpriced for what you got? My partner opted for the Black pudding, bacon, and mushroom 'stack'....well it could've been a stack if... More

Went here with my girlfriend for a meal on a Monday lunch and was impressed by the pub. The food was served very nicely and was good value for money with the 2 courses for £10 a very good deal will almost certainly be returning as it's within walking distance from our house so I can walk and have a... Visited with family, after hearing the menu had changed with the new owners. Although not booked, as a Wednesday night, the place was rather busy, with a couples, small family groups and a large party of gents. The menu was different and varied but no specials on. Choices of wine good. Only down side was we were seated by ourselves... More

Visited the Ship Inn recently for a friend`s birthday. This is the first time I have visited since the new owners took over and it was lovely could not fault the meal or service. Can not wait to return can see this becoming my favourite place to eat.

We visited the ship for a 50th birthday celebration with 18 family members, we pre-booked our meals which all arrived promptly, with excellent service and were all delicious. I would certainly recommend this venue. P.s. Thanks for the birthday drink!

It's becoming a joke of how much we we're being checked up on! We we're innocently sat in there having some drinks and me being under 18 had a coke and the rest had alcoholic drinks. The women behind the bar and the man with her would not stop looking over! Working in a restaurant myself I know the importance... More

This was second time at The Ship since it has changed hands. Food was again excellent, staff friendly. no complaints at all. They do things differently to the previous management but I say thank goodness! I do not want to eat huge portions of bland food. I had scallops and lamb tagine and was beautifully presented and tasty.
