Family and friends on a Saturday evening. Service was slow considering orders were placed before we even sat down, the menu was not very big in variety but big in expense. When food arrived it the portion sizes were disappointing and some friends had to order Chinese later on!! i have eaten in far better places for less money, wont... More

We went hear for a family meal for 11. Prior to going we went in and got menus which the waitress who served us gave us to look at the day before we all picked our food. We then arrived to find a different menu and could not get anything off the menu she had previously presented us with. She... More

Food was really good. Service was fantastic . Bit too expensive for the size of portions you get. When you consider the farmers at Ulverston have much bigger portions which means you only need two courses and therefore it's cheaper. I am only saying this because I really feel the Ship is a great place and could be the best... More

We visited here as a family of 11 and the place itself looks very good, not what I would expect for a Robinson pub... I ordered Scampi and chips and my chips were nowhere near cooked 5o what chips should be, henchmen why I left the majority. A family member had a Thai Chicken Curry it was very basic and... More

On my 2nd visit in week. Went for two courses for a £10 (think that was the price) beautifully cooked, really tasty, plenty of it and veg is not over cooked. Still crispy- just how I like it. Went for the starter and main was too full for dessert. Sadly. Staff really friendly and chatty. Nice relaxed cosy atmosphere. Can't... More

Please bear with me as I have a lot to complain about. Booked two months in advance deposit paid with a list of orders one month in advance. Booked for 8 people, deposit paid for 8 but the table was set for 9. starters came out with the cutlery on the plates and a spoon was missing from one soup,... More

Visited last night to eat as didn't fancy cooking at home. The pub was very crowded, which must be a good sign, but table service was very slow. Ordered monkfish, veggie pie and 1/4lb burger. Monkfish was very small, but apparently very tasty. I know it isn't a cheap fish, but the helping was somewhat on the mean side. Vegetarian... More

This was taken over round about the end of 2013. The charges for meals are getting onto expensive for what you get. Vegetables appear to be rationed and the food often lacks flavour, the fish pie which I had was expensive and tasted bland as if the fish was lacking flavour and the sauce was not rich. Shame as school... More

Nice friendly local pub that serves good home made food at a very reasonable cost, certainly worth a visit with your partner or family.

I have dined at The Ship on many an occasion both prior to it being taken over by new management and afterwards- I was one of the customers relating to the exchange given in the review below and am somewhat baffled by the his interpretation of events and particularly his embellishment of what was actually said- and for the record...
