Good value

We went to the Ship Inn with another couple friends from Barrow, we were on a visit from Australia. The Inn is very welcoming, with good decor and friendly staff. It was midweek fairly quiet and the menu offered a steak dinner with a glass of wine for 12 pounds. We all enjoyed our meals and my... read more

The Ship Inn at Roose Barrow in Furness is a friendly pub come restaurant the staff are welcoming and the food is good, we had for main meals - Thai curry - which was a little watery but had lots of favour, Fish and chips which was plentiful, Gammon steaks which was large, all the meals we had with chips... Great friendly pub. Service and meals are lovely. Great to visit with family and friends, and for special occasions.

Having had a number or good meals, we found standards had slipped on our latest visit. Nothing substantial enough for a complaint but enough to take the shine off. Eating from the 2/3 course week evenings menu: Felt the pate lacked depth of flavour and texture, mushroom soup was, however, delicious, Burger was nice but chips were mediocre, 2* Thai chicken... We had a lovely meal to celebrate a family birthday. Our starters soup and garlic mushrooms were first class, crusty bread was a delight too. My main dish was beef and dumplings and I must admit the tastiest I have had for ages. My wife had lasagne, she said it was very tasty and seasoned perfectly, my son had Cumberland... More

Ideally situated within a short distance from our holiday accommodation, the Ship Inn offered a warm and welcoming traditional pub experience. Good local ales were available on tap and a reasonable menu kept us satisfied when hunger pangs struck. We'd recommend the lasagne as a hearty feast, though if you get the chance of the chicken and leek pie special... More

Family and friends on a Saturday evening. Service was slow considering orders were placed before we even sat down, the menu was not very big in variety but big in expense. When food arrived it the portion sizes were disappointing and some friends had to order Chinese later on!! i have eaten in far better places for less money, wont... More

We went hear for a family meal for 11. Prior to going we went in and got menus which the waitress who served us gave us to look at the day before we all picked our food. We then arrived to find a different menu and could not get anything off the menu she had previously presented us with. She... More

Food was really good. Service was fantastic . Bit too expensive for the size of portions you get. When you consider the farmers at Ulverston have much bigger portions which means you only need two courses and therefore it's cheaper. I am only saying this because I really feel the Ship is a great place and could be the best... More

We visited here as a family of 11 and the place itself looks very good, not what I would expect for a Robinson pub... I ordered Scampi and chips and my chips were nowhere near cooked 5o what chips should be, henchmen why I left the majority. A family member had a Thai Chicken Curry it was very basic and... More
