We'd seen this place mentioned a few times in the visitors' book of our farmhouse and we were not disappointed. We had called to reserve a table but were told that although the upstairs restaurant was fully booked, they did not take reservations for either the downstairs bar area or for the outside tables. We manage to bag a table... More

We arrived at the Masons arms and although we had booked it seemed very busy, so I was worried we were going to be crammed into a busy room on a small table. However I was very wrong. We were taken upstairs to a small but well spaced dining room, which was quiet with a lovely ambience and great scenic... More

We visited this restaurant on only one evening of our weeks stay but wished we had come more often. We enjoyed having some nice fresh vegetables with our roast meals and this makes a pleasant change these days. The food was great and the service was non intrusive but very effective and efficient, would go back again and recommend you... More

Great meal with the family. This place gets very busy so be warned and book well in advance! We ate early at 6.30 and had no problem getting a table then but it soon filled up. Staff were super polite and friendly and the food was fab, good size portions and good value. We came here on a recommendation and... More

Went along for a birthday meal and everyone enjoyed everything :-) I had the belly pork with boulengaire potatoes and braised red cabbage followed by strawberry meringue. The belly pork was well seasoned and cooked perfectly with THE best crackling I've tasted. The braised cabbage was sweet and slightly acidic which was a good combination with the richness of the... While on a walk from lake Windermere we came across the mason arms and had lunch here. The outside patio was very comfortable and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place to eat.the puddings were to die for! Sticky toffee and the Eaton mess are our recommendations.

Second visit in six months. What a great place. My advice would be to book a table and parking can be tricky. Great food and cracking atmosphere. Super service all round. Well done

Sunday late lunch, looked busy but appealing. Plenty of seating inside and out, locally sourced food, fabulous choice, friendly and efficient.

We've been staying in the village of Crosthwaite and have been truly spoilt for choice with at least 3 great pubs within less than 2 miles of our cottage (and that excludes the Brown Horse which we just couldn't fit in!) - not bad for such a remote place! This was our final lunchtime stop on a very rainy day... More
