Very busy on a warm evening but service was friendly and efficient. Our vegetarian antipasti was excellent and my husband enjoyed his venison casserole. However, my smoked haddock fishcake was heavy on potato and light on fish. No room left for dessert but coffee was good.

We had lunch here, having stumbled across it a few days previously. Lovely place, atmospheric and quaint interior, great attentive service and a top drawer lunch for 3 of us sitting outside with the great view over the Winster Valley. We'll be back!

Had a wonderful lunch in this delightful pub recently. Had the saddle of lamb which was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. Great service. Food was fresh and hot. Good old fashioned ambiance with great views. Outdoor dining available with patio heaters for those chilly days. The Lake District pubs have come a long way over the years and can... More

Great pub food with varied menu and puddings to die for. Beatiful decor, superb views and delightful young staff. We went with friends and ate in a cosy room upstairs. All of us chose different dishes and each was delicious. I had venison stew. Damson pud a speciality and it was fantastic. All at a good price for the standard.

Went for lunch with my wife. Food was fantastic. Dusted baby squid and focaccia with oil/balsamic to start. Tasty. Pork/whole grain mustard stew and pulled pork with nachos were are mains. Absolutely delicious. Good range of draft lagers and ales. Lovely location

Really good pub food without any pretensions to being anything else, which is a great relief in these days of trendy self confessed gastropubs etc. We stayed at the Masons Arms for 3 nights ate supper there each night and breakfast on the last morning. The menu is extensive but the highlight for us was the stewpot: an enormous pot... More

Excellent fresh food and service and well worth the effort to find! An extensive selection of beers and beautiful scenery made our recent visit a real joy.It might be advisable to book in advance during the height of the season as it would be reasonable to assume that this is a popular venue for locals and visitors to the area.

We first visited this pub in the mid 80's and have been coming back ever since. Excellent food and great ales in a fantastic setting! It's well worth the drive out to find it. A little Lakeland gem!

A traditional inn, located at Cartmell Fell with a wonderful and relaxing vista. The ambience is a reminescence to past times with lots of old furniture nicely supporting the layout of this historic building. Menu was focussed on local products especially cooked. We enjoyed very good beef, venisson and lamb and escorted by a deep red Malbec. All meat was... More
