This is how a gastropub should be

A cold evening, a roaring log fire, loads of character first class beer and wine. The food choice is varied and high quality . The Pub was vey busy but service was spot on and food came quickly. We have been stayed and eaten here on a number of occasions and it has always been excellent.

A lovely pub, out in what seems like the middle of nowhere, with a cozy bar area downstairs (and a nice hot fire!) and delicious meals served upstairs. Friendly service, there seems to be a pub cat that wanders around, and you can buy local fudge from the bar. My husband and I shared the Three Little Piggies - black... More

Whenever i return to the Lakes where i was born i try to make at least one visit to The Masons, it's a bar with real ales, good wines, and excellent food, but its kept the interior welcoming and old world charm. The staff are friendly and knowledgable in what they provide. They have rooms but book in advance to... More

We came here for an Evening Meal on Sunday night. There were loads of cars in the car park so we feared the worst but actually in the Bar area there were two free tables and all of the side room was empty. We chose the table by the roaring fire There was a good selection of Thwaites Ales on... More

we were impressed by reviews so paid a visit for our evening meal when staying nearby. staff were very welcoming, food was great, and portions were very large. ribs starter came with chips and wasn't far off a main course portion-wise. we loved the building/setting as well as the food and would definitely return

Just returned from a night at the Masons arms, the staff are as always friendly, kind and willing to put themselves out for customers. We visit this pub a few times a year because of the food and ambiance we love it! So much so we decided to stay a night as we had at other BB's this week in... More

Tried to get here on our first night in the lakes but got lost, turned up at 21:10 to find they stop serving at 9. However the place was recommended to us by many so we booked in 2 nights later and found our way, and the wait was certainly worth it. The decor of the place is fantastic, and... More

The food is very good - it has a great selection of meat and vegetarian dishes - enough to keep everyone happy in our group anyway. I knew this is the kind of pub that fills up quickly and the day we was no exception - we got there at 12:30 for lunch and took one of the last table... More

We stopped here for lunch whilst travelling up to Windermere over the Christmas Break and after visiting the other restaurants in the chain, we weren't disappointed! Both the food and service were excellent and interior was both comfy and quaint, though I would recommend booking in advance as we were lucky to get a table.
