The restaurant is in a beautiful old building, and we had really hearty, delicious food, everything tasted really fresh and the 2 waitresses that served us were very accommodating and friendly, would go back.

Visiting Bowness and were just looking for something simple and not too fancy to get a bite. We sat outside as was a nice day. I ordered avocado tartlet which was a panini with goats cheese, avocado and tomato with side salad and potatoes. It was dad simple but really really nice. Staff pleasant and clean toilet.Would most probably eat... More

What a very poor experience. I ordered fish pie which comes with a mash potato topping. Why oh why would I want boiled potatoes as a side dish. Anyway you needed a detective to find the fish in this pie. Avoid!!

Looks nice from the outside. Go inside and you're ushered upstairs to a small room from which its difficult to escape. Its at that point you look around and realise your meal is likely to be sh$*t. Blue cheese and poached pear starter consisted of tasteless pear covered in supermarket cheese and salad. Fish pie came with tinned potatoes and... More

Staying for a week in nearby Windermere we had been eating out each night, this was our final night and we definitely saved the best till last! The 2 and 3 course offers were very good and we were spoilt for choice! My husband had the lamb shank and there was tons of meat on it! Lamb goulash meat balls... More

The staff were really helpful and pleasant. The surroundings were clean but dated. The food was fresh tasting. I had fish and chips and the fish was really nice but the batter was mediocre. The salad with the scampi was very plain. Not very busy at 5 pm, we were the only ones inside and there was a a couple... More

Staff are polite, food is okay. Staff not sure what cider drinks they do, didn't get a drink order correct. Had to come back and ask if I wanted chips and veg, never asked the wife. Asked how I would like my gammon cooked! Never been asked that before.

Took the boat from Ambleside to Bowness for a days outing. Walked around the shops, the sun was shining and it had many attractions. As lunch time drew near I started to seek out a suitable place for a meal. Placed half way up a quiet street overlooking the town I found the Spinnery Restaurant. The outdoor seating area was... We had a lovely meal here when we stayed in Bowness eight years ago and returned yesterday. The food was just as lovely, they were playing some of my old Motown favourites and the service was as friendly as ever; all-in-all a lovely evening.
