Description: Linthwaite House Hotel restaurant overlooking Lake Windermere in the sublime Lake District is a very special place indeed. With views that would have thrilled Wordsworth, Linthwaite House Hotel has chosen luxurious, tasteful interiors to please even the most jaded urbanite and the kitchen, under chef Simon Bolsover, is daring and modern too. Fresh, local ingredients conspire in a signature dish like 60 Degree Herdwick Lamb with braised neck kataifi, cep and kidney risotto. Choose from light lunch menu on the terrace, daily changing table d’hote menu or simpler a la carte in the elegant dining room, with its vast mirror collection, in the evenings, vegetarian menu, or trad Sunday lunch, all accompanied by a blistering global wine list.

A family meal, to celebrate it being Wednesday....indeed any excuse to sample the delights of this lovely place. Service is impeccable and standards of cooking are high! Six of us sampled a range of dishes, all were delightful. The home made breads - 3 types - are a wonderful treat, served with starter course. Great wine list with some at... More

Really nice hotel service and food are excellent , the bedrooms are spacious and we'll equipped. I left my earring behind and they have managed to find it and post it back to me. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Will love to go back soon

We were a little disappointed with our afternoon tea at Linthwaite House. The sandwiches were average and the scones little better. The service was good but overall a disappointment. One thing that can't be faulted is the location. The hotel overlooks Lake Windermere and has its own tarn within its grounds which can be reached by a short walk.

Went with friends for a special celebration meal. Had the tasting menu. The hotel is in a beautiful situation, and having pre-dinner drinks with the sun setting over the Coniston fells was lovely. Staff varied between friendly and a little bit too formal (more smiles in the dining room please), but attentive throughout. The layout of the dining room is... More

Very good, ambitious cooking which must surely be on course for a Michelin star - it is certainly as good as the nearby Holbeck Ghyll which boasts that accolade. Highlights included a wonderful starter based on a kind of blue cheese roulade which I would happily eat every day for ever, and some impeccably timed fish dishes - always a... More

The attitude and welcoming of the staff was arrogant (dislike)! But the food was great (like). Didn't like the room view though!

Dinner for a special occasion. This food is lovely and pretty - portions are well sized as it's quite a rich menu. For us the winning choices were the pea and ham combination and the rump of lamb. Extra vegetables are offered willingly if you ask for them - you only get decorative ones on the plate. The cheeseboard makes... More

The seven course taster menu was a delight. The wine selection to accompany it was also great. Portions were surprisingly big for a taster menu but not overpowering. Service was friendly and informative.
