Description: Linthwaite House Hotel restaurant overlooking Lake Windermere in the sublime Lake District is a very special place indeed. With views that would have thrilled Wordsworth, Linthwaite House Hotel has chosen luxurious, tasteful interiors to please even the most jaded urbanite and the kitchen, under chef Simon Bolsover, is daring and modern too. Fresh, local ingredients conspire in a signature dish like 60 Degree Herdwick Lamb with braised neck kataifi, cep and kidney risotto. Choose from light lunch menu on the terrace, daily changing table d’hote menu or simpler a la carte in the elegant dining room, with its vast mirror collection, in the evenings, vegetarian menu, or trad Sunday lunch, all accompanied by a blistering global wine list.

Wonderful food - we ate in the restaurant (rather than the less formal terrace area) on both nights of our short break at the hotel this time, sampling most of the menu between the four of us, and everything was excellent, though once again fish dishes were particularly outstanding. This is assured, confident cooking; the careful thought which clearly goes... More

The setting is fantastic with views over Windermere, the service was very very good, the dining room had a great ambience and the £24.95 3 course Sunday Lunch menu was great value anywhere in the world. I almost don't want tot score it so high and keep it as a hidden gem off the beaten path.

My wife and I visited the Linthwaite house Hotel for dinner on Sunday evening. Unfortunately, arriving after dark meant that we missed the impressive views from the hotel overlooking the lake. However, I was attracted by the prospect of the fine dining experience, the reputation of the chef and of the restaurant and a special offer from the hotel for... More

During a long weekend enjoying some excellent food in the lakes, I visited Linthwaite House for Saturday evening dinner with my wife. The venue itself is quite traditional but we liked it, and the service was warm and professional, no issues at all on that front. The website recommended smart casual for the dress code; whilst there were a number... More

Visiting Linthwaite House a few weeks ago made me realise that we don't go out and enjoy a leisurely Sunday lunch often enough! We enjoyed the ambience of an autumn afternoon with the sun shining through the golden foliage with views of Lake Windermere as we sipped our pre luncheon drinks in the conservatory. Lunch was an elegant event, catering... More

A family meal, to celebrate it being Wednesday....indeed any excuse to sample the delights of this lovely place. Service is impeccable and standards of cooking are high! Six of us sampled a range of dishes, all were delightful. The home made breads - 3 types - are a wonderful treat, served with starter course. Great wine list with some at... More

Really nice hotel service and food are excellent , the bedrooms are spacious and we'll equipped. I left my earring behind and they have managed to find it and post it back to me. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Will love to go back soon

We were a little disappointed with our afternoon tea at Linthwaite House. The sandwiches were average and the scones little better. The service was good but overall a disappointment. One thing that can't be faulted is the location. The hotel overlooks Lake Windermere and has its own tarn within its grounds which can be reached by a short walk.

Went with friends for a special celebration meal. Had the tasting menu. The hotel is in a beautiful situation, and having pre-dinner drinks with the sun setting over the Coniston fells was lovely. Staff varied between friendly and a little bit too formal (more smiles in the dining room please), but attentive throughout. The layout of the dining room is... More
