Linthwaite House Hotel restaurant overlooking Lake Windermere in the sublime Lake District is a very special place indeed. With views that would have thrilled Wordsworth, Linthwaite House Hotel has chosen luxurious, tasteful interiors to please even the most jaded urbanite and the kitchen, under chef Simon Bolsover, is daring and modern too. Fresh, local ingredients conspire in a signature dish like 60 Degree Herdwick Lamb with braised neck kataifi, cep and kidney risotto. Choose from light lunch menu on the terrace, daily changing table d’hote menu or simpler a la carte in the elegant dining room, with its vast mirror collection, in the evenings, vegetarian menu, or trad Sunday lunch, all accompanied by a blistering global wine list.

Fabulous food

Afternoon tea and the fabulous five course dinner were delicious but my favourite was breakfast - it was perfect.

We booked an impromptu afternoon tea at Linthwaite House last Saturday, which was excellent value for money and the service was exceptional. Fresh selection of sandwiches, delicious scones, cakes, and homemade yoghurt compote were enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the lake. Although we only live 30 minutes away, we were so impressed with the hotel, food and service that we... More

We visited Linthwaite House, as a party of 5, for lunch with friends The hotel has a lovely gentle ambiance and its elevated position above Lake Windermere means that you can enjoy some stunning views. The fixed price lunch menu offers a choice of 3 starters, main courses & desserts, with one in each section being vegetarian. The food was... More

There are some places that just feel right the minute you walk through the door and Linthwaite is very much one of those. From the minute you enter the welcoming reception you feel the stresses of everyday life slip from your shoulders. I loved the attention to detail, even the corridors had been "planned" with strategically placed stacks of old... More

My partner and I had the tasting dinner. Excellent from start to finish. Reasonable sized portions. All well worth the money. Good wine selection. Charming place to sit.

Went here for a birthday afternoon tea & evening meal. Amazing location overlooking lake Windermere & with a huge wrap-around conservatory to take in the views. The afternoon tea was beautifully served with a good selection of sandwiches & cakes/scones. Though once everything had been served the staff seemed to disappear & we would have to walk to reception for... More

Friendly welcome. Beautiful views and lovely gardens. Enjoyed aperitifs sitting on big squishy sofa looking down towards the garden and lake. Elegant dining room with relaxing feel. Food was presented beautifully and tastes were wonderful, obviously a great chef. The selection of breads were good and left on the table, which were hard to resist! Service of a very professional...
