A good old fashioned pub serving good size portions of food, quality drinks and all for a reasonable price. Staff are warm and friendly and dogs are welcome. Definitely go back again.

Went here on New Years Eve lunchtime as needed somewhere to eat a quick lunch where we could take the dog and came across this place. It was very busy and had a good atmosphere. There was a wide range of ages in customers from couples to families. The menu has a good choice and is reasonably priced. The food... More

Steak and ale pie was the high point. Do not order the burger (bad beef, bad cheese and bad bacon). All vegetables were pretty tasteless.

Dark untidy pub. Everywhere else was full so we ended up here. By heck I wish we didn't. I ordered garlic bread with cheese and gammon steak for my main. The garlic bread was soggy and looked like it had been microwaved. Next the gammon how can you possibly go wrong. The gammon had either been re heated and reheated... More

We wanted to eat in 'the Albert , cross the road but unfortunately the place was full. We went to John Peel Inn instead. The place was dark and dull saying the least. Furniture were outdated. However, We didn't anywhere else to go for a meal so we stayed in. The service was ok so was the food. I am... More

We called in for a warm and a drink on a frozen December day, a large open fire burning in the hearth soon had our coats off, there is a large seating area and a great choice of beers. We enjoyed it so much we went back the same day for our evening meal, great pub food piping hot, served... More

Veg tasted and looked frozen. Roast chicken was nice. Wasn't well presented, slung on a plate. Toilets were a disgrace and stunk. Really disappointed although the staff were nice.

I decided to pop in for some lunch, my husband wasn't hungry but I was. It was early lunch and the place was dead. The barman didn't look up from his phone, when we walked in, we ordered and then sat down. Condiments were brought to our table without a word. We managed to make our own entertainment until our... I enjoyed the pub meal. The meal was well cooked and lots of it. Bar staff young but happy to help. Local pub with interesting people drinking.
