Recently stayed in Bowness on Windermere and stumbled across this pub which claimed to be the oldest pub in Bowness. Beautiful building, with even better internal decoration. Meals are very reasonable and plentiful. Entertainment on of an evening and Sunday afternoons. Definitely worth a meal and drink. Try it.

we called in here for a drink on the way to the restaurant, lovely place, but I must admit I prefer to sit outside,(not a big fan of stuffed animals). staff friendly, drinks reasonably priced.

I was told by a local this is the oldest pub in Bowenss, and THE place to go if you want proper pub food. I wasn't disapointed. It's full of character, everywhere you look there is something to put a small on your face with unsual trinkets and taxidermy. The food comes quick and is cheap, bit portions...think fish pies,... As a regular visitor to Bowness this place is always one of my watering holes, full of charm, great service, and as a real ale lover ticks all my boxes, keep up the good work guys!

Bowness is situated on the side of lake Windemere, so as you would expect its a downhill stroll to get there. Pubs and eateries are in abundance, but if you like something "oldie worldy" and a bit different from the usual modern pub then this is the place to go. Without doubt the most traditional pub in the town! A... More

This pub is the tops its been there since 1612 and I can see why the staff made us feel like we were old friends visiting with a good selection of beers. this pub is Bowness on Windermere best kept secret and a must visit place if you are in the area. Plus it serves good food. FANTASTIC!!!!!!!

Dating back to 1612, this place is a good pub for local brews. The other room had live music, but we sat in the first room. The food was also good, and my friend the beer drinker loved it so much he went back several times.

We have been going to the pub for 6 years and had planned on having a certain meal but they have changed it! Same food as every other pub now. Still a cosy little pub and great atmosphere will still go back time and time again
