Excellent

One of the very best pubs in the Lakes. Excellent real ales. Wine ok. Single malts. Food good value basic pub grub. Don't go on Fridays between Easter and Christmas ad there's superb live music and you may sit in our seats.

Lively pub full of traditional cheer and plenty of nice beverages. Well worth a visit when it is cold and damp outside (probably even if it isn't). Would recommend the mulled drinks...

Celebrating our 30th Wedding anniversary in the lakes we researched the local area on the Internet and decided we would like to sample the food, drink and atmosphere of this little hidden gem what a better way to spend our Sunday tea time. We parked the car in the nearby car park walked round to find a sign on the door... More

My wife and visited for an early evening drink and loved this charming pub, could've stayed all night. Great beers and drinks selection, friendly down to earth staff....didn't eat here but will be back.

There is something great about settling into a snug corner and drinking good beer for an afternoon. The rain is pouring down out side and the wind is blowing a hooey but it doesn't matter. Your sitting by the big log fire with a pint of Dizzy Blonde and the Missus has a bottle of Proseco to keep her happy.... More

Lovely wee pub where we enjoyed a huge Yorkshire lunch and a real ale by the fire. Friendly, helpful staff in a traditional atmosphere and we enjoyed a fair few hours relaxation toasting our toes.

Called in for a pint on a wet lunchtime. Didn't eat but food looked good. Nice pint and great choice of whiskies and gins. Lovely warm open fire too.

Just on a day trip to Bowness. I'd heard a lot about Hole in t' Wall so decided to call in out of curiosity. Although I wasn't eating there, the food being served looked very good. This is a 'must visit' place if you are in Bowness, especially for foreign visitors, who I'm sure would find it very interesting .... More

If there is a cozier, more welcoming, quaint pub in this country I'd love to go in it. Winter or Summer this is the place. Full of character and charm, you never fail to get talking to people in here. Food is excellent and good value with some top notch real ale thrown in. Don't do Bowness without going in... More
