Food wasn't the best but!

Good location. Would be great to sit out in summer. Staff were friendly and service was well managed. Good well stocked bar with a number of real ales and well staffed. We are here at the recommendation of our guest house proprietors and were not disappointed. We were just looking for a light meal and shared 2 plough mans platters between us - nice selection of bread, cheeses, pie and ham. The staff were very friendly and the setting very pleasant indeed.

Good traditional pub grub but over-priced for what it is. My wife and I "walked in" without booking, which was fine, and service was excellent for both food/drinks and food arrived promptly. Food seemed over priced, £15 for sausage and mash, with no vegetables, seemed a bit excessive but not sure whether I chose badly...all other tables food looked really... More

We went here recently, based on Trip Advisor ratings and were left quite disappointed. The atmosphere in the lounge area is lovely, a good selection of drinks and we could play dominoes whilst waiting for our food. However once the food arrived, it was sadly average. The pasta & tomato sauce was bland and the fish and chips nothing particularly... More

We booked a table for my birthday and we weren't disappointed. I had the lamb shank which was delicious and my hubby had the ploughmans which was amazing !! We were looking forward to dessert but we were so full we had to pass......gutted !! Staff were lovely and the service was great. Bit more expensive than the restaurants/pubs in... More

We have visited the Angel many times over the years and always been over the moon with the menu and the service. This time we went for a meal and found the menu quite different, I have quite a broad appetite but didn't fancy sausage that may contain lead shot and am not a fan of duck eggs. In the... More

We have visisted this hotel a few times now both stayed over and just for as drink and a meal, the staff are very warm and friendly, the rooms are spotlessly clean, and the breakfasts are quite extensive and very tasty, but out favourites are the meals in the restaurant we were over this february for our wedding anniversary, bowness... We had taken gamble on declining a meal in our hotel which is very well rated on its food apparently. We just fancied an evenings walk out and to explore the watering holes in the area. We called in here just expecting bog standard pub grub, but were really pleasantly surprised to find it much more than that. As we... More

Have been visiting the Angel Inn for a quite a few years now, and stayed over a few times too. Its always a relaxing atmosphere and the staff/service is very good. Breakfasts are nice and freshly cooked, plus a light sharing-lunch-platter with a guest beer (or white wine for the lady) is perfect either inside by the open fires, or... More
