Great Pub, Good Food

This Pub is on the hill just up from the town centre and has a lovely large down sloped front lawn with tables and chairs. You can either order food at the bar or be waited on in the restaurant. Although you may have to wait a while for your food it is worth it. We had the Rib eye... read more

Called in for a drink and to look at the menu but didn't eat here as staff are arrogant and rude. Was looking where to sit and was told eating only here which is what I wanted to do. Will not be returning

I have eaten here many times but not for quite sometime. I think the chief has changed. We ordered cocktails and were disappointed in the presentation and taste. My fish and chops were not the usual high standard in taste and presentation. My friend was happy with her choice and it was well presentation but she ordered a side of... More

We decided to try this place for food as it was the first place recommended by the Rum Doodle B&B (where we were staying) for good restaurants in the area. It was busy and after a while waiting at the bar we were told it would be a 45 minute wait for our food. Normally I don't wait that long... More

Called here last week for dinner before the pictures, been many times before, always ok or good. This visit however I found the food excellent and definitely a step up. Chicken liver pate was very tasty, Sea bass main, again very very good. I liked it so much I ordered two desserts, both for me, lemon cheesecake and possit, superb.... More

Popped in for a drink with husband. It was a cold very wet night. Walked in to roaring log fires . Place is spotless and friendly,my only regret was not choosing this hotel to stay in. Beautiful location.although we never ate here the food coming out the kitchens looked fab and people seemed extremely pleased.

We have eaten here loads of times before and really enjoyed the food - in fact we are usually planning what to eat before we get to the Lakes. Visited here for lunch on Saturday only to be disappointed - Im not too sure if there has been a change in Chef but the food seemed overpriced and "average", we... More

Very nice restaurant, plenty of space inside and out. The food was really nice and plenty of it. The staff were really nice and friendly. We sat in the conservatory and it was really comfortable. Would recommend it.

We went here based on some reviews. I visited the lakes on a food weekend looking to enjoy some lovely meals and wine. This place was by far the worse I had. The service was average at best. We weren't even informed there was a specials board until we left. For starters I ordered the bread and I could have... More

Been here twice in the last week and have loved it both times. The waiters were friendly and happy. They made an effort and were flexible in the order. It was a beautiful environment with great service and food. Would definitely recommend! :-)
