What a find this place was. Having a quiet weekend away in the beautiful Lake District with a group of friends and decided to find somewhere to eat on a Saturday night. Bowness is a lovely quaint village on the beautiful tranquil Lake Windermere so to find a place which was buzzing, full and quality was a real bonus. Had... More

Definitely one of the finds of the last year or so, quite simply - Great food Great atmosphere Great price. The hanging beef fillet kebab is to die for as is the haggis special starter. 2 starters , 2 mains, pint of lager and a tonic water, bottle of wine. £55 Superb

Attentive and friendly staff, we were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated straight away (although this may have been because it was not too busy). Only one waiter so had a bit of a wait before our order was taken but this didn't other us as we had already had our drinks so we were happy to... More

As stated above the food was excellent, the staff were very obliging, the atmosphere was great but the floor was so dangerous and slippery had to walk so tentatively as to not fall and break a limb!

This has become our favourite eating place in the lakes over the last few years and once again we were not disappointed. We visited for lunch, an evening meal and also for drinks. Whatever the occasion this venue seems to cater for all. The quality and presentation of the food remains outstanding and the service from all the staff we... More

we had reserved a table, and sent all meal choices in advance as we were a large party. However it was over half an hour after our reservation time that we were eventually shown to the table, then a long delay before the starters arrived and almost an hour before the main courses were served. Whilst the food was excellent... More

We've eaten at the Village Inn every year for the past 5 years that we've spent New Year in the lakes and we have always had great service and great food. However I do agree with a lot of the reviews that have commented on the slow service this year, as this was our experience this time round. However I... More
