Went for an evening meal last weekend with my son for a joint birthday treat while staying at bowness. I had been before and enjoyed it and wanted my son to experience the hanging kebab! Very friendly service, good local beer and very tasty wine and the kebabs well what can I say? Tasty is an... read more

Visited here several times in the past on different trips to the Lake District and it was always good. It seems now to have undergone a bit of a refurb and be managed by an outside catering company. The food was still good and the cocktails were excellent (better than all the other visits). The only thing that really let... More

We came here with another couple on their recommendation. It's safe to say all four of us were very disappointed. The couple that we came with had been here the night before and said that the food was delicious, however what we experienced was far from it. To begin with our drinks took 20 minutes to arrive, 2 of which... More

The surroundings are very nice but more evening than breakfast dining. It is overpriced for breakfast for what you get but then in comparison to other places it may be reasonable! The cafe latte was very nice but at £3.20 was a shocker as I had two! The menu is a bit deceiving for breakfast, no mention of toast so... More

Just returned back from an evening meal here, very nice Tried a few places in Bowness but they had all stopped serving at 9, and we arrived at 10 past, but the Village Inn serves until 10pm. Very nice food, I went for the Seabass special which was beautiful in taste and presentation and my boyfriend had the duck burger,... More

This placed looked busy and is nicely done inside. We were seated quickly and orders taken. We both opted for the beef skewers. They were a bit too greasy for us I'm afraid and I personally didn't like the marinade they used on the meat. Served with chips, Asian coleslaw and a pitta. Would've been better with a bit of... The food was very nice. I had the beef kebab and really enjoyed it. I didnt think it would be filling so I had the garlic bread as a side and it did the job.

I like the place - went midweek so was fairly quiet. The staff were brill and the food was lovely. Me and the girlfriend had a few tipples too and staggered out quite late. Would definitely revisit.
