My boyfriend spent hours going through trip advisor looking for the perfect restaurant for my birthday dinner and thought he had found it when reading the review on this unfortunately we were totally disappointment in the service, food and general experience of this restaurant. We met friends for lunch to share a special occasion and there was only one other table taken. The atmosphere was missing and the food very ordinary. The lasagne was just cheese with tomato and a very limited amount of meat.Service was a little slow also.

We wandered around bowness wondering where we could spend the second and final night of our short break having dinner. We settled on the village Inn based upon the menu and the feel of the place. We weren't dissappeard. The food was excellent my wife and I both had the chicken kebabs and the service was just as good .... More

We went on a Sunday and didn't think it would be busy but it was we got seated straight away the waitress was lovely. We ordered the sirloin steak and chicken kebab we waited roughly 20 mins. The food was excellent especially the kebab. I had a mojito cocktail to finish. It was so good we came back the following... More

Went here with my family for a meal. The restaurant was not busy at all however we waited about 45/50 mins for our meals to arrived after order, the waiter even came over twice and apologised for the delay, despite saying "it will be with you in 2 minutes guys, it's on the pass" we still waited 10 minutes. The... More

We visited the Village Inn on Monday evening (2/12/14) and felt like we were in a Winter Wonderland. The Christmas decor was tastefully done. We decided to stay and have dinner and the presentation of the food was fab. I had the fish and chips - too many chips though but the fish was heavenly with a transparent batter. By... More

Thank you, Acker1957! Sadly Santa only visits the Village Inn once a year, but thankfully his letter helper Elves came in to help transform us into a cosy Winter Wonderland for the festive period! So glad to hear you enjoyed the food, especially the mushy peas served with the fish and chips! More

Both the food and drink is here is lovely and I would definitely recommend the muscles and the hanging kebabs. As soon as we walked in here it had a very welcoming atmosphere and it was lovely to sit by the fire to warm up after coming in from the cold, and in the bar area they even have games... More

Thank you for your great feedback about the food and welcoming atmosphere! Given how cold it is outside, we know how nice it is to be able to come in to the warmth from the fire! I will pass your comments about the service on to the manager to ensure this does not happen again. The chefs will be delighted... More

The motif is interesting. It is a mix of modern and Asian. Not sure what they were trying for or if it has recently changed hands and the decorations were left over from the previous owners. The food was average, but reasonabley priced. I had the fish and chips. Half the fish was cooked perfectly, but the other half was... More
