We were based in Bowness for a couple of days for business meetings and had been booked into this restaurant for our evening meal. We were allocated a very large square table which enabled us all to be able to converse easily. The waitress who took our order dealt with us all evening and she was very, very pleasant and... More

The Village Inn used to be one of our favourite places to go on a visit to Bowness but since its been done up and made very modern it just doesn't have the same feel and is quite pricey.

We were a party of six and all agreed the food was lovely, as was the waiter and waitress that served us, however the bar staff need to learn some basic manners, like for example, thankyou and maybe a smile. Such a shame when staff put it over to the customer that they couldn't care less whether you are there... More

Decided to try this restaurant based on the reviews of TripAdvisor. What a great place. Had the beef hanging kebab which was excellent. Great value for money and large portions. Service was fast and friendly. The place was also busy which is normally a good sign. The only thing I can fault is the price of drinks which seemed expensive,... More

Had a weekend away with friends and ate and drank some wonderful cocktails here on our first night. The hanging kebabs are just fabulous and the chips are the tastiest ever and my friends were equally impressed and very happy with their meals too, so much so we decided to eat there again the following night. The staff are lovely... More

I ordered lasagne. It was bland and extremely stodgy. The impression i got was that it was old and warmed up. I ate half as i was in need of food being diabetic otherwise i would have left it. The decor was fantastic but food didn't meet the same standard

The menu is extensive so there ios something to please everybody. The home made deserts (if you still have room) were to die for. Sat outside as the was perfect for the time of year, Will be going back soon.

Dined here with some friends - the menu is massive so you'll always find something for everyone. The hanging kebabs are delish!! I had the chicken one which was lovely and moist with crispy chips and garlic butter. I really enjoyed it. Husband had the ribs - they were meaty and really tasty. Sitting outside was great - good to... More

Decided to eat here based on the delicious sounding menu, unfortunately it did not live up to our expectations. We had to wait 30 minutes for the main course we'd ordered. My burger tasted like it had been deep fried and the onion rings were extremely greasy. Overall very disappointed and would not recommend.

Our burgers are made from 100% pure minced beef which is cooked on the char-grill As they are made from pure meat they are very firm and not full of water and additives in the way we are so frequently served elsewhere. The onion rings are deep fried and should be allowed to drain and rest before serving, I do... More
