I enjoyed the food here however my boyfriend can be a fussy eater. He was having the lasagne for his main course which came with garlic bread. He asked the waiter if he could have the garlic bread that came with it for his starter and pay for a portion of chips to come with his main. They said he... More

Spoke with multiple members of staff and all were rude and spoke to you as if you're wasting their time. On top of this the place is full of fat flashy old men trying to be something they aren't (young!) accompanied by their trophy wives. Don't waste your time with this place unless you're one of the above!

There is always a conflict when a restaurant has a mixture of 5 star rave reviews and 1 star terribles. Sometimes you just have to hold your nose and jump! Such were our feelings about going for dinner in the Village Inn on the last night of our holiday in Bowness on Windermere. I am glad we did. The restaurant... More

We decided to pop in to the Village in for a spot of lunch. We loved the lay out, and thought the tables we nicely set up and decorated. We were service quickly but the waiter who said we could pick any table. We ordered our drinks along with two baguettes. These didn't come out very quickly, which wasn't a... More

Having read mixed reviews I felt necessary to add my thoughts. The place looked busy when deciding to eat ( 3rd April evening). Welcomed in by I guess the manageress and shown to the table, that was fine but am afraid downhill from there. I struggled to understand what the waiter was saying to me, my wife had a better... The Village Inn is a bar and grill - and we do just that. All of our food is simply cooked on the grill and the accompaniments are as is. It couldn't be any simpler. Yes we do use different ways of serving some of our dishes, but this has now become the norm in modern and stylish establishments like... More

Really busy last friday night but cheerful member of staff made us welcome and got us on the waiting list for a table. Bar staff very quick and friendly so with drinks in hand made our way to the comfy sofas to enjoy the atmosphere. I love this place and cant fault it. After a bit of a wait we... More

Thanks Jane S! As you say, the Village Inn is a very busy and popular destination but with welcoming sofas and a roaring fire, there is the perfect relaxation spot whilst awaiting your table. As someone who eats out a lot, we know how high your praise is, and thank you! We look forward to seeing you again - and... More

Visited last summer & really enjoyed it. Revisited last Sunday & couldn't have found it more different. Terrible service & attitude. Went to eat mid afternoon. Was initially asked, after we had ordered drinks, to return to order in 15mins due to high demand. Did as we asked & on returning was asked to wait a further 20mins, just to... More

We are sorry to hear your comments. We have had a few staff issues lately. Unbeknown to me there were long-term members of staff in cahoots in stealing money from the company and were planning to do a runner. Over the last few weeks we have had issues with them and couldn't understand why until everything came to light. This... More

Went for a late lunch last Saturday, Food was really good but the staff terrible in the restaurant part. You could see the young lad just didn't want to be there at all other customers tried to get his attention and were ignored. We also tried to get his attention as he walked past us to order more drinks and... More

It is great to hear how much you enjoyed the food on your recent visit, but are saddened to hear about your experience with the service. As you may have seen from my comments on other reviews, we have recently had a couple of members of staff robbing us blind and not caring about the Company and what we stand... More
