We tried to book here the night before, but unfortunately they don't take bookings for small groups. We arrived with small child in tow at 6 10 and finally got seated at 7 30. Nearly gave up after reminding the very carefree waiter that we were still here. Ordered a bottle of wine once seated which totook a good 30... More

Had the owners son, who walks around dragging his feet and even looks like he needs a rocket up him, had told us there was a three quarter of an hours wait for a table we would have chosen not to wait with our four year old as that was getting too late for him to eat. Instead he said... More

Really pleasantly surprised by what the menu has to offer at this classy grill during our trip to Windermere. I ordered a side order of bread and olives as a starter and it came with a big crusty baguette, pesto and oil and a big salad which I didn't expect! I had the fillet kebab for main and my partner... We were lucky to find place as they serve food till 10pm and allow dogs in the bar area. It is a really nice place too. The downside was that it was just too hot in there, so hot that it was uncomfortable. Unfortunately the vegetarian selection was not great either. My boyfriend had the fish and chips and he... More

A reasonable choice of food & a good selection on the specials board. Our food was truly enjoyable & tasty. This is our 3rd visit. As there is so much competition in this small village the standards are really high & competitive.

Had a very good meal at The Village Inn. Is dog friendly (apart from in restaurant) so we ate in the large bar area. Decorated in silver with loads of mirrors it's quite different from the usual Lake District Inn. The food was ace. I had Soup of the day (cauliflower and cheddar) and she had chicken parfait. Both lovely.... More

We have been to Bowness before and everytime walking passed this restaurant it was busy. So this time we kept walking passed and it was busy so assumed it must be a good place to eat, so we give it a go. We were seated immediately which was good, and when the food came the best part of it was... More

We went here for a meal last Friday night. Welcome was great, banter with the front of house staff was great. Drinks realistically priced and a nice varied menu. We went for the Mussels, good value, good quality and well presented. Food being served around us looked good and portion size is plenty. We should have gone back the following... More

Our taxi driver recommended The Village Inn when we first arrived in the Lake Dsitrict and it did not disappoint. While we did wait slightly longer than normal, the food was definitely worth the wait. Everything we ordered was delicious and came with a large enough portion to serve several people! The baked camembert with bread and tomato relish is... More

Really nice restaurant with good food and big portions. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. Would definitely go back if we were in the area again.
