21 years and the standard is still excellent

My wife and I haven't been for a few years, but we frequented it regularly some 20 years ago.To my surprise it was run by the same owner(a rarety these days) and it is to his credit the standards were just as high! The menu offered a wide choice and all made great appeal. We were not disappointed... read more

Do not be kidded by the view from outside looks very small on first look but there is a lovely room downstairs. We had not booked a table but we're lucky to be fitted in we both had steak which was cooked perfectly. The service was very good this is a little gem which I will book in advance to... More

I got in here without a reservation for dinner on a Friday night. Service was friendly and attentive, food arrived in reasonable time, was well cooked and tasty and the wine was good and not too expensive. Starter of scallops and black pudding was delicious and two steaks - one a fillet and the other a T bone, came cooked... More

We booked a table for 8 so that we could celebrate a long weekend with 3 other couples. The welcome was very good, staff were very attentive and the food was very good. There was however one fly in the ointment, the waitress accidentely dropped a bottle of Proseco which exploded showering me with its contents. The waitress was very... More

Booked for my mums special birthday whilst staying in windermere. Was so disappointed as I'd searched for a special venue through reviews etc and thought I'd found the perfect place. Not one of the 9 off us enjoyed our meals, my burger was raw, my dad's steak was tough and even my child's burger was raw! A cheap badly cooked... More

Great food and atmosphere. Staff can never do too much. We have been twice a month for three years and it's always spot on. We would recommend booking before you turn up as it is always full.

Visited Jacksons on the evening of Sunday 10th May where we had already booked a table. Good choice on the set menu but we both opted for the A La Carte menu, 3 courses, as it was for a special occasion. Partner had crab terrine for starter and duo of duck for main. I had the soup of the day... More

A great selection of food, beautifully cooked, set menu very reasonable or a la carte slightly more expensive. Seating downstairs was cosy with a nice atmosphere Service initially was mediocre with incorrect drinks and starter, but improved by main course. Catered for our gluten free friend, but no GF bread !

After reading other reviews we decided to try Jackson's Bistro. We were not disappointed. We had the 3 course inclusive menu £17.95pp and all 4 of us had different starters and main courses. There was enough to choose from and we all enjoyed our dishes. The service was excellent and even though the restaurant was small we felt relaxed and... More
