This place is excellent!!!! We took advantage of the early bird menu, 3 courses for £17.95 and what a delight it was, all the food was great. The service was second to none, the poor guy was rushed off his feet but never let anybody suffer, he was most attentive to everyone. You must defo nip upstairs here, the toilets... More

After coming to the Lake District to propose to my girlfriend we wanted to find a nice place to spend our last evening and after reading the reviews on here we chose The Postilion. We were not disappointed. On entering the restaurant we were warmly greeted by the waiter who showed us to our table and promptly took our order.... More

Overall the food was good but they concentrated too much on the appearance rather than how the food tasted and the size of the portions which were very small. The tables were very squashed together. Some staff were friendly but others seemed a little abrupt. There was a good choice of deserts, I loved the pancakes. I would also recommend... More

Arrived for dinner. We had not made a reservation. Were seated upstairs in comfortable area whilst a table was set for us. Welcoming, friendly, sociable staff. Excellent food and atmosphere.

We visited Postillion on a Saturday mid-evening in mid-September 2014. Thus we were there for the priciest menu. Earlier in the evening and weekdays their pricing is lower. We found the food and presentation very good. We were upstairs in a lovely, quiet area so great for conversation. Services was mixed, well-meaning but a bit confused; one of the staff... More

We chose The Postilion based upon previous entries on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. A first class three course meal for two with drinks and coffee for under £50. Amazing!

Stopped in Bowness for the night and used Trip Advisor to locate the best three eateries. Postilion was number two but they had a good menu on their website and an early diner offer, easy choice then. Sarah and I had three fantastic courses for £18 each, washed down with a belting White Rioja. Lovely service and they even sang... More

This is by far my favourite restaurant. I travel to brownness in order to visit Postilion. The food is delicious and excellent value for money. I have been several times now and never been disappointed. I have recommended to family and friends, they also enjoyed the food and visited again.
