I cycled past the Fish House recently and it looked closed. I have since confirmed that it is closed.
3 of us went out for Christmas dinner, to save me cooking. Booked for the 5.30pm sitting, and along with about 20 others, had to cram into the tiny lobby downstairs and wait, as the previous sitting (booked for 3.00 o'clock) hadn't finished. This wasn't unsurmountable - it was Christmas after all and people like to linger a bit. But... More
I booked the fish house for my wife's 40th birthday meal. I booked it for six people all of who had eaten there before. After arriving and standing around for some ten minutes with two other parties (who we didn't know) we took it upon ourselves to find a member of staff. We were told that our bookings had not... More

Arrived as a party of 4 Saturday at 8:30 pm followed by another party of 6 who had booked for a 40th birthday celebration. We all stood in the small bar/reception and were all ignored by three members of staff coming and going with drinks for people upstairs. At 8:50 we asked if someone was going to acknowledge we had... Great food, helpful and pleasant staff, but didn't get main courses until 2 hours after we sat down. This didn't bother us as we were out for the night but we did see other tables complaining about the wait. When the food arrived it was absolutely delicious and at £40 a head for 3 courses plus 3 bottles of wine... More

My friend ordered cheese and biscuits for desert however only a piece of hard cheese... More
I visited with friends after York Races and it took some finding as small entrance off High Street. Glad I didn't give up as our party of 8 had a superb meal. The mussels and lobster are best ever had. There was a bit of a wait for the food but the restaurant was full with great atmosphere so not... More
We attended Lobster Night with some friends and had a fantastic time. The lobster was delicious and brilliant value, the wine was gorgeous and the atmosphere bustling. Our only complaint was the temperature of the restaurant, it was boiling! Will be going back soon though.
