The Crab Cafe is situated just before crossing over to Portland & beneath Chesil Vista Holiday Park. You may think you're going the wrong way but persevere - it's not far, through the gate & you're there. The outside area has a relaxed rustic seaside feel to it with tables & chairs, some with coloured Caribbean style parasols. We dined... More

We had lunch yesterday - it was our first visit - I particularly liked the quirky terrace and garden and asked if we could have a drink outside before being seated - the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly - and brought us menus straight away! The prosecco was perfectly chilled and went down a treat as we perused the... More

We are fairly regular visitors to Portland Harbour and kept forgetting to book this place. It is usually fully booked. Good location on the banks of the Fleet as it enters Portland Harbour. Easy for parking. We watched the other diners eat the crab. They were provided with a tool kit and it looked messy but fun. I prefer dressed... More

Lovely location on a sunny day. The seafood was, as you would expect, very fresh. Our party had oysters, scallops, crab, monkfish and sole, all wonderful. The wine was excellent too. Not overpriced. Good food and good value. Pink fluffy sunshades are an eccentric addition!

Stop overnight in Portland Marina and cycle to dinner at the Crab House, wonderful, sat outside and enjoyed one of the best crabs I have never had, my husband had one of the specials of the night, codling, he enjoyed his dish but would not order it again, rather small and tiresome to eat. Great location and super staff, forgot... More

I travelled a total distance of in excess of 140miles in order to dine atThe Crab House Cafe, I was not disappointed, it was well worth the journey. It was most reassuring that they had run out of the fish I initially ordered. If they are serving fresh fish this is bound to happen. Having chosen another fish the kitchen was... More

Had a wonderful evening here with my 7 year old who loved smash her crab to bits! She had lovely oysters to start and I had some grey mullet for main. My husband really enjoyed his low effort crab salad. Great relaxed al fresco experience.

Went back to the Crab House Café for my birthday lunch on Friday. We were not disappointed. Started with the spectacular "spratchovies" - sprats cured like anchovies. My brother had oysters au naturel (which I would have had but for my late onset oyster allergy), and his partner had the thai fishcakes. We went on to crab to crack, codling... More

Wonderful shack with friendly staff and chefs who know how to cook fish. Very relaxed. Quite a few seats outside if good weather. Sufficient choice with a range of prices. Different ambience to Rick Steins main restaurant but the fish just as good. Go!
