We discovered this place about a year ago when we were camping in the area and absolutely love it. Despite arriving on what seems like an industrial estate, this quaint teeny little unassuming shack is right next to the sea and you won't find food any fresher. With an ever changing menu and the need to book in advance for... More

Having been there a few times now I must say it is top of my favourites list. Good food, freshly cooked, and served with a smile. Always accommodating even if it means utilising the heated outdoor area while waiting for an inside table. Even in the Summer who can guarantee that an outside table is practical?

I cannot speak highly enough of this place. Discovered it by accident a few years ago, and ever since we cannot visit Dorset without eating here. Went last week with some friends, and as usual the fish was all cooked to perfection, really really tasty. The highlight this time was for the kids - they were allowed into the room... More

This was my birthday treat . The food was fresh and lovely. Scallops, Crab and oysters all simple and well prepared , full of flavour. Staff great, happy and efficient. Will be visiting again soon.

We ate here last night, on the last night of our trip to Dorset. Starters of mackerel escabeche and scallops with cauli puree and bacon followed by a beautifully cooked, fresh as a daisy crab to share. Our four year old is now a crab convert - wielding the crackers with enthusiasm if not control! (We ate outside to spare... More

Waiting Time: it took a while as everything is cooked fresh, but it's worth the wait! Service - Friendliness: friendly and efficient, I stood around for a while when I first showed up and had to ask someone to help me as all the staff were very busy and walked past me several times. Service - Speed/Attentiveness: good service, they... More

Radishes as an appetizer were obviously very fresh, though not overpowering. Hot granary bread and dip was great. Oysters came raw with choice of lemon or red wine vinegar and Tabasco. I preferred the lemon. Then I tried the oysters country style with cream and bacon. These were a taste sensation... Wife loved them too. The scallops were served with... More

Great service. Fantastic food. I cannot rate the place highly enough. Even made something bespoke for my other half who wanted something different. Bless them.

Having grown up on the coast of Dorset, I'm a regular visitor back from landlocked Reading, and always crave great seafood the moment the salty air hits my lungs. This unpretentious and great value restaurant only does fish & seafood but does it really well and is yet to disappoint. The hand dived scallops, perfectly cooked, sang of their freshness... More

Third visit to the Crab House, such a lively chilled out atmosphere. Only opens 5 days a week (closed Monday and Tuesday) so make sure you book. If you love very fresh fish and like to visit somewhere abit different, you will love it here
