Excellent Curry

As a frequent visitor to Indian restaurants throughout the UK, this rates as one of my favourites. Ate variety of curries here many times and quality, service and portion size is great. This wont let you down!!

We're regular visitors to Barnard Castle and often eat out. Having spotted a recommendation sticker from Pat Chapman (Curry Club founder) in the window on a previous visit we thought what better recommendation than that? We had to go next time! We're both big fans of Indian cuisine so Bengal Merchant had a lot to live up to: thankfully they... More

Just returned from the Bengal Merchant after another top class meal. Always fresh, tasty and large portions. Mufti and the rest of the team work so hard to make everyone feel welcome. Can't wait to go back.

We visited here based on the reviews from trip advisor. We were very impressed with the food we had both starters and main courses. The food was good portions and we all felt it was fresh and not cooked in a lot of oil. We would visit again

we arrived at Barnard Castle very late one Thursday night after a long journey. The staff at Bengal Merchant were only to happy to offer us a table despite the late hour, we had an enjoyable meal and did not feel rushed at all. The restaurant was decorated with the usual paraphernalia one might expect. The toilets are situated upstairs... More

Lovely food. Staff on hand to advise which dishes compliment each other. Large starters. Not rushed. Poppadums and pickles good. Too much food , couldn't finish it. Nice atmosphere.

We have eaten here a few times and it's always been fantastic! This time we decided to get a takeaway as we were staying in a campsite nearby. We ordered onion bhaji's as starter and Chicken and vegetable korma's, rice and naan for main. We were given 3 papadums with pickles, one portion of onion bhaji's contained 4 with salad,... More
