Very generous portions; great chips! Friendly waitress. Good guest beers. Opposite the entrance to the Falls.
We have been here a few times for Sunday lunch, I'm a meat eater and love a good roast, it has always been excellent with huge portions of great food and decent beer. Unfortunately the missus is a veggie and complains it is always the same thing (broccoli and pasta bake), good portions and nice but too samey for her,... More
Visited high force to fill a few hours with my partner. It was a nice walk out and fairly cheap - £2 car park then £1.50 each per adult. However the hotel we decided to visit after for lunch was very poor. Very expensive for what was being offered and walked out without ordering - visit Egglestone Hall team rooms... More
We called into the High Force Hotel for a drink while out in upper Teesdale. The staff were warm and friendly, but the meal was not. we arrived at lunch time to find the hotel quite empty, this should have been our first warning sign. The food came to the table and looked about as appetsing as the road kill... More
Our visit along the new walkway & enjoyment of the spectacular waterfall, river & forestry views was blighted by a visit to the Hotel opposite the entry path. We met the rudest host ever encountered. We had decided to have coffees, whilst we considered our lunch plans. The Hotel, in need of updating, was empty. One of our party of... More
we stopped off at the hotel today in the middle of a ten mile walk in the pouring rain. i ordered 2 teas which were served with the bags left in the cups and cartons of uht skimmed milk on the side. i politely asked if i could possibly have a small amount of fresh milk and was told they... More
We ordered beef sandwiches in a stottie at £6.95 each. When it arrived it was actually beef in a bun swimming with (VERY salty) gravy. The 'garnish' was some red onion - floating in the gravy. Very expensive for very poor food.
Unbelievable! We were looking forward to a night away at High Force with friends. They made the booking but sadly had to pull out. We still wanted to go and my wife and I and our 21 month old daughter were turned away by the manager as our room had only been booked as a double for 2 (and not... More
I had an ensuite room. Upon entering the bathroom (very small shower), I felt the floor giving way under my foot. My room had a windows which gave me an excellent view on the corridor behind it. Luckily, on the otherside of this corridor was an emergency exit door which had a window in it. So I did have daylight.... More
Really enjoyed the pint - very nice all round. Beef pie OK but the special, lamb hotpot, was brought to the table barely warm and was a very meager portion. Complained, it was taken away, microwaved and brought back with apologies but no offer for money off/drink to compensate. For around £9.00 a portion, this was awful. Won't be going... More
