Pleasant cafe

We went on a busy Sunday. The manager was having quite a job organising the young staff but we were served quickly in the end. A pot of tea, a toasted teacake and a cheese scone. Not much to say about that but lots of tables were having afternoon tea and that did look very good. It's a welcome... read more

Upon arrival, our booking was not on the Cafe booking list, however we were shown to a table fairly quickly. Supervisor was polite and junior staff where smart and presentable. Our complaint was with the standard of food presented for an afternoon tea. Firstly, the Earl Grey tea appeared to be old stock because it simply had no flavour of... More

Arrived one Saturday at 11-15 for coffee to find more than half this small cafe set out with reserved tables. We had a table for two people following us in found it difficult to find a table but there was no offer of letting them have one of those reserved tables. You would think people coming for lunch OH NO... More

Very clean, spacious, with tasty snacks and friendly staff. Difficult to fault and good value for money.

Arrived for our 2pm booking to be greeted by a response on "Are you sure it was 2pm today?" Please to say I had a booking confirmation in hand or even I would of doubted myself! A table was laid for us and we eventually sat down. The young waiters shoes were covered in mud, not a great impression. Tea... More

A wonderful restaurant. We have had a couple of meals here and both have been delicious. I would recommend the "full english" breakfast - bacon, cumberland sausage, black pudding, tomato & fried free-range egg - wonderful. The "Yorkshire Roast" is also recommended.

We spent a good morning exploring the museum and earned coffee and cake. There were plenty of heaters (needed otherwise cafe chilly ).

I enjoyed my visit to the museum and decided to have lunch. I was by myself and felt comfortable. The service was very good and the cafe is a nice light airy place. I had a blue cheese and veg tart with salad and it was very good. The homemade cakes looked lovely (I resisted temptation)

We read the menu and it looked nice but several things were not available. While they seem to be trying hard on presentation the flavour was lacking. I had a confit duck leg which was not very nice, very hard to chew. If you are gluten free read the menu carefully, G.F marking at this venue means contains glutton and... More
