Surprisingly excellent!

This pub is very close to my work, and, from its ownward demeanour, I'd always imagined it to be very ordinary. But a meal yesterday for a group of 15 of us really surprised me - great selection of meals (excellent mains and desserts), well preopared and fairly priced. Only real downside (and... read more

After calling in to The Red Well Inn on the off chance of a Sunday lunch, we were greeted by lovely friendly staff, after being told that we had to book a table we were really disappointed but the staff shuffled things around and found us a table. We got told that we would have quiet a wait as they... More

We ate in the restaurant -though the same meals are served in the bar area and at the same price. Starters £4.95, Mains £8.50 and dessert £4.95. I had beef, my husband turkey and both were very good. The lunch comes "plated" - it's not a help yourself to vegetables. The meat is served with Yorkshire pudding, carrots ,cauliflower cheese,... More

Booked here for a special occasion- there were 14 of us including 6 children. They had put us in a room on our own which was great as we were quite noisy and young children don't always want to stay in their seats all the time! The waiters were attentive and pleasant. The food all came quickly and was enjoyed... More

Called on spec and had a lovely late lunch. Food was fresh, hot, tasty, well presented, well served and ample in size. The pub is welcoming and the staff friendly. We will call again as the food was very good but it wasn't cheap. The 2 for £16 menu is good value but is limited in choice.

After our friends took us to view the spectacular High Force Falls on the River Tees in Middleton-in-Teesdale, they took us to The Red Well Inn for Sunday Lunch. My wife started with the Soup of the Day and I tried the Mozzarella and Sun Blushed Tomato Salad with Balsamic Syrup. For our main course, we both had the Roasted... More

We had another great meal at the Red well last night. The staff are all so friendly and attentive at this lovely country pub. It's not always required to book a table ,but it's always advisable on weekends so your not disappointed. We chose the two steak special with a free bottle of wine. The steaks were cooked perfectly to... More

The title pretty much sums it up. The food is fresh, plentiful and tasty, we couldn't fault a thing. Portion sizes are good, in fact very good considering the price, we ate from the 2 for £16 menu section, however all the other items sounded and looked great -again I'd say value for money! The children's meals were very good... More
