Cracking Breakfast

Visited here this morning & had the full English breakfast. It's cooked to order & some of the ingredients are locally sourced from a butcher further along the street. e.g. the sausages taste like old fashioned sausage not processed rubbish Great service. Nothing is a trouble to the staff. Silver... read more

Cracking place! Beautifully old style, real fire roaring at the back of shop. The loveliest, efficient, smart waitresses made the experience even better. Lots of activity And good view of high street......oh... And the food was lovely too! China cups and silver tea pots.

Such a lovely experience. We chose the afternoon tea option from a varied and delicious choice. The staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Everything, from the really tasty sandwiches and scones, to the scrumptious cakes (especially the carrot cake) were delicious. This was our second visit but certainly won't be our last. Highly recommended for morning coffee, lunches... More

It's not a tea-room, it's not a cafe and it's not a bistro. It's a bit of all 3 and very welcom in a town where this sort of thingcan be a bit tricky to find. It's quite old-school and traditional, with a whole host of luncime bits and very good breakfast options. Prices are very good (pie of the... More

Been to Barnard Castle many times but never in Clarendon's. It was lunch time and the place was busy but the four of us managed to get a table just before it got really busy. It's a very friendly place and there's a real fire right at the back. Even though there were a lot of people and no spare... More

Wanting a snack lunch, we called into the Clarendon. The place is set out very nicely, with matching furniture and very attractive decoration. We were fortunate to find a place, only two tables left. We were served by a very happy waitress, and our food arrived fairly promptly-a prawn sandwich and a ham, mozzarella and red onion chutney panini. Both... More

We called into Clarendon's on Saturday morning for breakfast at 11.00 and were shown to a very nice table at the back of the café close to the fire by a very friendly lady who explained breakfasts are served till 11.30. We all ordered bacon and egg sandwiches or muffins with coffees and teas. I loved the tea served in... More

We were in Barnard Castle visiting the Bowes museum and looking for somewhere for lunch. Barnard Castle has plenty of places to eat but not many which are inspiring. We were about to give up and we found Clarendon's and glad we did. Very popular even on a weekday lunch and I think we got the last free table. Friendly... More
