Lovely experience

We visited as part of a two night stay in Brockenhurst and it was one of our highlights. There aren't really any restaurants close to this quality in the village itself and it was well worth the short taxi ride. We were unable to get a table until 8.45 even on a Thursday but we arrived at about... read more

Went for a birthday lunch and the team at The Pig made it really special. We had a private dining room just for our party which made the occasion great fun and were able to enjoy a really long leisureable lunch and afternoon. Food choices are great with lovely unusual desserts the nettle cheeesecake being particularly good. Of course the... More

The set up is beautiful in terms of the grounds and the house. The food, however, is mediocre. My 2.5 yo daughter had the fish from the children's menu. The fish was cooked well but the three boiled (skinned) potatoes that rolled around the plate were as dry as a bone (so much so that my daughter found it impossible... More

We visited this RESTARAUNT two years previously, and we enjoyed it very much, however we were disappointed and not be returning. Fine dining should be an experience to be enjoyed, and overall we were disappointed. The service was extremely attentive with the exception that we waited 1/2 hour for the wine an when I queried the reason for the delay... More

We have always had a nice meal when we have come here. The restaurant in the conservatory has a slightly quirky decor which is a refreshing change for fine dining. The menu regularly changes due to the sourcing of ingredients which seems to result in some more inspired dishes. The last time we visited there were a number of nut... More

This is the fourth time we have visited the Pig and completely understand the concept of a relaxed dining experience, but feel on this occasion the staff were nowhere near as attentive as on our previous visits. For example, we finished our bread basket and not offered a refill (unlike previous visits), I ordered the cheese board which was placed... More

Having booked 4 months in advance to get a table at a reasonable hour we had high expectations. The food was good (not excellent) and reasonably priced. The dining room was cold, the waiter could hardly understand English and the service was rapid - but not in a good way. No sooner did you put your knife & fork down... More

Wonderful lunch at The Pig - started with a cocktail (recommended) and chose from the piggy bits section of the menu to try a range of items that would be easy on the wallet. Staff were pleasant and helpful - everything we ordered was delicious and a pleasant walk in the grounds helped the food to go down. Definitely plan... More

Stayed there overnight on a short break and have to say it was over rated. Service was reasonable - apart from a few mix ups spotted by customers - including ourselves (seems common in England these days!). Ordered tawny port to round off meal - only one portion left (do port stocks need to run that low - even at... More
