Disappointed

I had lunch at The Pig recently and didn't think it lived up to its tripadvisor ratings. The staff were expert, friendly and attentive, but the quality and quality of the food served was poor. Piggy Bits starters were minimalist and my Monkfish Tail main course was mainly bone. The cheeseboard... read more

We just popped in on the off chance, having read about the hotel, the hotel is stunning and the restaurant and bar just lovely. Had a light lunch and the most amazing rhubarb and custard ice cream. We will be back, and hopefully make a weekend of it.

My wife and I have just eaten at the Pig this evening, as a celebration for my wife's birthday. It was meant to be a finale to an excellent day. We arrived early, as suggested on their website, and enjoyed sitting in the bar area. Very comfortable and an excellent drinks/cocktail menu. A very positive start to the evening. We... More

My wife and myself stumbled on this little gem whilst having a drive around from our hotel we where staying in just up the road. We went in at lunch time for a quick drink as it looked lovely from the outside. We had a few nibbles and decided to give it a try for dinner the next night. It... More

my wife and I had dinner here recently and had one of the best dining experiences ever! The food is either from the grounds of The Pig or within 25 miles and is stunning! Very well cooked and not covered or disguised. Stunning and we will be back.

Compared to the likes of Limewood or even Pig in the Wall, this is substandard. The staff were helpful but very slow and the lighting was poor, the ambient music wasn't quite working and the food was average.

Would have to disagree with some of the reviews on here regarding the £20 special menu....went with a friend and we had succulent pork followed by filthy chocolate mousse. Great value for the price, lovely atmosphere. Have been wanting to go for ages but couldn't get a reservation. I wasn't disappointed.

Third time we have dined at The Pig and this occasion was better than the first two visits. We took our extended family out for my daughter's birthday, so a varied age group with differing tastes and there was something for everyone on the menu - from light starters to local fish dishes (starter and main portions) game, steaks and... I love the Pig but "special" £20 menu poor value. Also attention to detail poor on this visit. Had to remind about wine order & then wrong one arrived. My main course of fish pie arrived as meat pie. To be fair was replaced as was partners meal but the eventual pie could have been eaten in 3 average mouthfuls.... More
