Winters Tale

I have eaten at this restaurant in the past during the day and found it excellent. The setting in the New Forest is lovely and the whole place is quirky. As I was staying in the New Forest with my family we decided to go to the restaurant for dinner on a Sunday evening. We booked a table for... read more

I have been looking forward to visiting The Pig for a long time. Finally we arranged a visit to the New Forest and dinner at The Pig for my husbands birthday. It all started with en error with the booking system. We were waitlisted, then confirmed in error, found out by chance, then confirmed. Anyway - we got there in... More

This was our third visit to the pig. Hotel is very good, staff very friendly. The restaurant experience could be improved. As others have said it is very dark and you can't see what you are eating. Again Like other reviewers we found the menu very limited in winter. We both had the beetroot cured trout which was tasteless and... More

We got an early booking for Sunday lunch. We were greeted, shown to the bar while the conservatory was prepared. All parts of the meal was excellent, the staff were friendly and service prompt. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Some may find the winter menu limited but the range of locally sourced food was sufficient for a number... More

We were greeted by very friendly staff, who showed us to a table in a sitting room as the bar was full. A member of staff gave us our menus and also took our drinks order. Unfortunately the table was on a bad slant and my tonic bottle was sliding off the table. There was a good selection of food... More

Second visit at the Pig, this time just for lunch. We had a drink in one of the cost lounges before the meal. We then had the piggy bits to share as starters, which were really nice. We all had different mains and they were all very good, as were the desserts. Would highly recommend and will definitely go back

The Pig, Brockenhurst, such a lovely hotel with great staff, but the food menu in the winter is limited. My partner and I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights in January 2016, and although I hugely admire restaurants who promote local produce and those that also get a lot of their ingredients from their own garden, winter vegetables limit... ...this is the place to come. On a disgustingly vile night of rain and gales, we were warmly greeted and given a bottle of delicious Nyetimber sparkling wine as it was a special Wedding Anniversary. What a lovely surprise. By the fire on squishy sofas we nibbled on crackling and piggy scotch eggs while we made our choice (with special... More

4 friends visits for a birthday lunch. Unusually the service when we arrived was very slow and it took us quite a while to get a drink. However, from then on it was back to the usual high standard. The atmosphere, as always, was superb. 3 of us chose to eat from the 3 course special menu, one from the... More

The restaurant in The Pig in Brockenhurst is unusual to say the least as it has a large conservatory feel about it and a shabby chic finish that is most pleasing to the eye. No matching tables or chairs here! It is noted for it's 25 miles menu where all produce is supplied within that radius including fish. As previously... More
