Great place for beer after day on the bikes.

Had a couple of beers here. Very tempted to do meal when saw the food coming out but didn't. Loved the story of The Snakecatcher and the pictures around the walls. Charming character pub with great bar staff who also serve the food. We were staying just 5 minutes away at Careys Manor and wanted to venture out but not too far We had a great humus starter followed by a Greek salad and a tuna salsa verde which was amazingly good. We went back a couple of nights later and... More

We visited for a light lunch. The pub's name is interesting and the story is on the wall - go and look! Good real ales, perhaps not exceptional. Food is excellent - I had the chef's salad and can't recommend this highly enough! Enormous, don't know how they do it at the price, and all superbly prepared and presented. My... More

As we did not want to have french or thai dinner in the hotel, we were looking for a typical british pub. The friendly owner of the local hardware shop recommended "the snakecatcher". We have not been disappointed. This was exactly the place we were looking for. Great rib-eye steak on hot stone, just tender and delicious. Various hamburgers, goat... More

We went to the snake catcher for dinner on a Saturday night. It did get busy as it was the school holidays so you may want to book a table. There are also 2 gardens with plenty of outside seating. We had the fish finger sandwich and the gammon for our meals. The bread on my sandwich was a bit... More

We went here for lunch based on great reviews on TA. Sadly for us it wasn't the same experience. We opted for the "Cook your own steak". It wasn't great steak and also not the most relaxing lunch. If that's your kind of thing, then great. It is however a lovely pub. Nice beer garden and great staff.

Went in for lunch. Very good range of food and good quality. We particularly like the vegetable sharing platter with hummus and chilli dip. Good range of beers including Snakecatcher and a local cider. Only downside is the two gardens get some noise from road and trains.

The meat was presented on the hot stone so could be cooked to my liking and was good quality. The chips were overcooked and hard. On mentioning the overcooked chips to the waitress, she said nothing but looked surprised! Fairly quiet on the night we went. There is plenty of local competition and it is overpriced for what it delivers.

It's a large pub that does a good range of beers, but unfortunately when we called in three of the five were off! Food was ok but good pub grub, they do a Hot stone meal that looked a bit expensive. Dog friendly and a back bar with pool and music in. Good outside area but on a busy road... More

We were very impressed on our first visit to this place. We received a friendly greeting on entry, and efficient service with a smile throughout our visit.. Our food was freshly cooked, nicely presented, of good quality and very tasty. There is an option on the menu for you too cook your own dish. The sends a wonderful aroma into... More
