This is a very friendly, tradtional-styloe pub with an attractive garden. The food is a cut above your average pub grub. They have a good choice of local beers including some kegs. Loved the Fortyniner.

We visited for a late lunch and had 'cajun chicken burgers'. Very good value at 7.95. 2 chicken breasts in the burger. Only downside was that it didn't taste very cajun! We had a local ale also which was lovely. Service very good, young girl really friendly at the bar. Service was quick.
We ate here because Forresters was crowded we were allowed to take dogs in which was great as it was a very cold evening we had the fillet steak on hot stones which was expensive but worth it very pleasant staff and altogether a nice evening would certainly go again
Luckily the waiter of a hotel-restaurant not far from here (with a very uninteresting menu) gave us the tip. The food was absolutely superb! Pigeon breast rosé as a starter, venison filet on some spinach with a slight garlic flavour and the hot rocks entrecote plus a fine real ale and red wine were a guarantee for really nice stay.
The title says it all!! Expensive fillet steak but worth every mouthful as you cook every piece to your own taste, served with chunky chips and salad! Staff were highly accommodating as we walked in on the off chance and the place was busting at the seams!! Highly recommended!
I started with the scollops for 7.50 GBP. There were three small ones on the plate minus their roe. The venison sausages for my main course were two in number and only just bigger than chipolatas. They came with mash and one floret each of cauliflower and broccolli. 11 GBP thank you very much! The saddle of venison I didn't...

We ate here whilst staying at a local B&B. Friends and the B&B guide had recommended eating here so we thought we'd give it a go! We didn't book a table and just turned up on a Tuesday evening. The pub was very quiet and we were seated promptly. My partner is a big burger fan and had read that...

Ordered 2 Sunday lunches today. Arrived Luke warm and veg's were raw. Cold plates wouldn't have helped. Even after returning the food for reheating it still came back luke warm. Our perception is that the priority was to the stoneplate meals rather than Sunday lunch. Resented paying £35 for 2 * cold Sunday lunches.
A lovely village pub with friendly staff, good atmosphere and great food.
We had to try the steak on the hot stones and were not disappointed. It's great to see the food cook inf front of you, keeps it piping hot too.
Food presentation was excellent as was quality.
If you are a steak lover this is highly recommended, although...

We went here for lunch today. Arrived at 12.30 and hadn't booked. We took the last free table.
Service was quick and helpful. We both had sirloin steak at £18 a go. Not worth the money. Steak was cheap, fatty and full of gristle. Under cooked ( asked for medium and served very rare)
Food was barely hot and generally...
