Boxing Day in Bude, cold, raining, and just about the only place open for lunch was the Olive Tree. And that was a find: The wild mushrooms on toast was out of this world! And the Mulled Wine was equally fantastic! And we ask for, and got, ice cream with clotted cream on top for desert (I had promised my... More

Sunday last my wife and I decided to have a walk on the beach, as you do in the middle of January, at Widemouth Bay. After the walk and in need of Caffeine we went into Bude to the wharf and the Olive Tree. We have been here many times for coffee and cake but never for a meal. Now... More

Had lunch today at the Olive tree in Bude, what a great experience. Always felt you have a warm welcome and staff were very helpful. Excellent choice of food and prepared to a high standard. A truly excellent meal would recommend. I noticed they opened during the evenings and will go back soon. Good quality and prices.

Originally just went in for a cuppa after a bracing New Years Day walk. But the fine Cornish Ales caught my eye. Very good! Nice atmosphere and a friendly welcome,

This was a nice meal. With helpful and friendly staff. The food was good although a couple of the deserts were a bit below the standard we have come to expect from the resturant.

A wet and windy walk around Upton/Widemouth on a glum December afternoon just has to be rewarded with a bit of comfort food...what nicer than butter-laden toasted teacakes and coffee in a cosy corner of The Olive Tree? Squashy sofas, hot strong caffeine, a mini macaroon, good company and welcoming and efficient young staff. Just wanted to snuggle up and... More

So many great places to have a coffee break or lunch in Bude but this is certainly up there with the top runners . Always great food and coffee and a warm welcome. Great place to meet friends or end a walk along the canal or beach. Will be back again very soon : )
