Imagine…….. sitting on the veranda of a restaurant which nestles among rugged cliffs, gazing at the golden sands and the sea, stained scarlet, as the sun sets. Is this the Italian Riviera? No, this is Life’s a Beach, overlooking Summerleaze beach in Bude, Cornwall, where the location and the cuisine are as fine as any in the world. The wide ranging menu uses fresh local produce and reflects the creativity and travelling experiences of the young chefs. Seafood is a speciality, prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is always relaxed and friendly. The restaurant opens at 7pm but during the day it transforms into a facility for beach goers. There is an ice cream parlour, a beach shop and a café where meals, snacks and drinks can be enjoyed on the premises overlooking the beach or taken away.‘Lifes a Beach’ is already highly acclaimed as the place to eat out in Bude, so why not come and judge for yourself?

Great Bude Beach Location

Stopped off after walking around Bude coastline. Good food options at lunchtime. Bit of a wait given popularity and bank holiday Monday but worth it. Great views over beach and Bude town.

Fabulous beach with excellent waves for boarding. Good cover from lifeguards, tide goes out a long way so watch out for when it come back in quite high up the beach.

We hadn't visited Life's A Beach for a while, but with friends visiting us, decided to book instead of rolling up as we used to. Just as well, as needed to take a second sitting. So glad we did- food as good as ever, staff incredibly professional but with an easy, chilled approach. We had the special - Fish Platters... More

I booked well in advance as this restaurant is always busy and it is so disappointing if I can't get a table. We had dinner and, as always, it never fails to disappoint. The atmosphere is great and you know you are in a surfing resort. It is a relaxed place but that doesn't mean the service is relaxed. The... More

Popped in for coffee, hot chocolate and cheesy chips on a miserable day. Delicious hot chocolate (tasted like real chocolate), very nice coffee. We only had chips (which were very tasty) but the food arriving to other tables looked fab! Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Dog sat outside happily under cover with lots of bowls of water.

We had breakfast here while the kids were having a surf lesson with The Big Blue Surf School. The breakfast was very nice but the view of Summerleaze Beach is stunning we worth a visit.

This is a nice place with a lovley view of Summerleaze beach. It has a very surf shack/beach bar look to it that is certainly appropriate to its location, the only down side is its opening hours and licensing agreement. I wondered up there with the intention of having a quick pint while waiting for the little man to finish... More

Claimed to be so much but was so poor. My crumbed duo of fish was like something bought from Asda. Both my husband's and my meals were swimming in vinegary salad dressings. Our son's child's meal was a muddy tasting coley-type fish, quite vile, with FROZEN OVEN CHIPS - for the princely sum of £9. Don't waste your money on... More

This place is located right at Summerleaze beach so quite handy if you don't want a 5-minute trek into Bude town. We ate there as a family, the food was okay'sh along with service, but none if us were that impressed by the dishes we were served up including price-tag. Our recommendation would be to walk into Bude town where... More

Few better places to sit and watch the tide coming and going over a cup of coffee, a light lunch, or afternoon tea. Terrific vista includes Summerleaze beach, the Bude Canal sea lock, the breakwater, and Compass Point. Well worth the short walk from the main Summerleaze car park.
