Imagine…….. sitting on the veranda of a restaurant which nestles among rugged cliffs, gazing at the golden sands and the sea, stained scarlet, as the sun sets. Is this the Italian Riviera? No, this is Life’s a Beach, overlooking Summerleaze beach in Bude, Cornwall, where the location and the cuisine are as fine as any in the world. The wide ranging menu uses fresh local produce and reflects the creativity and travelling experiences of the young chefs. Seafood is a speciality, prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is always relaxed and friendly. The restaurant opens at 7pm but during the day it transforms into a facility for beach goers. There is an ice cream parlour, a beach shop and a café where meals, snacks and drinks can be enjoyed on the premises overlooking the beach or taken away.‘Lifes a Beach’ is already highly acclaimed as the place to eat out in Bude, so why not come and judge for yourself?

The highlight of Bude

Ok, so the taking of orders was painfully painfully slow. But who cares when the food and views are this good. My favourite restaurant in the area by a mile! Whether you come here in the day for the much more casual cafe style or the restaurant/bistro dining in the evening I have never been disappointed. One of those rare places that I could easily choose anything on the menu and enjoy it, and I can be fussy! We come here... More

My partner and I managed to book a table for 8:30 despite the restaurant being very busy due to a birthday booking but had pretty severe car trouble on the way so we were late. We phoned ahead and to our surprised they agreed to keep the kitchen open until we got there. We sat down 45 minutes late and... More

The system is that you order at the counter and your food is later delivered. The order is not taken at the table. The view is superb and the staff were friendly and working efficiently, focussed and fast. When I ordered I said "have you got the two baguettes?" and was assured that he had. You're ahead of me perhaps.... More

Food was really great and the view (beach, ocean) was amazing. But the interior of the restaurant didn't seem to fit the meals. The food is more fancy and high level but the interior is more surfer-bar. Staff was very friendly and thoughtful. Background music was great but on our table a little loud. I would have preferred a little more... More

I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant on a special night out but i was so disappointed. The service from the staff was really indifferent and the bread stale. Not great. I won`t come back

We enjoyed a lovely burger overlooking the beach. You do have to queue up to order and there was a very long queue which was a bit annoying.

We have stayed away from LAB for some time after a disappointing experience but decided to give it another chance, sorry wish we hadn't bothered: scallops (still raw and no colour) served with 2 dried out bits of homemade sausage and tasteless white blob which was supposed to be jerusalem artichoke - £9 not happy Main course was as far...
