went here for dinner one evening.. I had linguine which contained enough for a 5 year old.. 3 prawns and a miniscule amount of crab.. my partner had steak which contained around 6 chip's and some Rocket salad and perhaps the smallest steak I've seen.. we finished in less than 5 minutes.. ridiculously expensive would not eat there again.. but... I'm afraid that all that the Coombe Cellars is. Food was average, service was terrible. The bar was empty and waiting to get served was an embarrassment. We had bought friends from abroad to visit as the location is great. Wouldn't bother again. Apart from the views...I wouldn't waste your money. Overpriced.

A menu with a great range of choices. Fabulous non-alcoholic drinks. Incredible desserts. Friendly service. The setting is just amazing.

Today we enjoyed a family celebration lunch for my husband's birthday. We booked a table for six and requested a high chair for our little grandson. When we arrived we were shown to our table, laid for us, by a very welcoming and personable waiter. Our female waiter was also personable and friendly while remaining professional, taking our drinks orders... More

In the good old days before this place was taken over by Mitchells and Butler and "refurbished", you could come here and have a decent, honest meal at fair prices ....and the bonus was the fabulous view. As soon as the new regime was in place you could see it was never going to be the same again. Previously you... More

Went for our anniversary meal here in a Monday night. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and couldn't do enough for you. The food was very nice BUT a little expensive. We had bread to start that at some restaurants is free but not here. Then a fish food platter to share starter which was very nice but again slightly... More

Lovely ambience beautiful views and good food at reasonable prices. Coombes cellars is a very busy restaurant in the summer times and weekends and so a nice surprise to find a lovely place for lunch.. The service was friendly and professional and the food good. Will return again soon.

We came to Devon for a family holiday and were staying at Devon valley - not far from Coombes Cellars. What can I say, the food was absolutely gorgeous! Even the children loved it, in particular the sausage and mash. Desserts were amazing - best cheesecake I've ever had! Beautiful location on the river and would recommend this place to... More

Just had lunch at the Coombe Cellars after a wedding ceremony and the experience was perfect from beginning to end. We received the warmest welcome, and we're made to feel very special. The service during the four hours we spent was attentive and relaxed at the same time. We had 5 out of 5 excellent meals. Starters , mains and... More

This pub and restaurant is a victim of location and the inability to provide staff when it is busy. Sunday afternoons it looks like a bomb site with glasses everywhere, tables not cleared and a long wait at the bar. Food has gone downhill and having eaten there numerous times previously, would now not recommend it for food. Try the... More
