Although the service is good the food is extremely bland. Decor needs improving e.g. carpet held together with adhesive tape. Avoid the carvery which looked and tasted anything but home cooked. Cheesecake watery and tasteless.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are a family run business and pride ourselves on creating fresh home cooked food presented with a friendly and welcoming service. However I am baffled by the review because we have NEVER offered a carvery option to our customers. Our business relies heavily on repeat custom drawn by our... More

On a recent trip to Newton Abbot, our relatives took us to this delightful tearoom for Sunday lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would recommend it to anyone living or staying in the area. It was a nice change from the usual pub carvery and we will definitely eat there again when we return to the area.

We have been several times and have had delicious lunches and a couple of amazing luxury cream teas. The decor and ambiance is pure victorian with comfort to match. The chef and his wife always go the extra mile which shows in the superb fresh food of such a high quality. We love it and would recommend to anyone. Do... More

Perhaps we chose a couple of meals from the menu that were not their speciality therefore may not reflect their usual standard? The food was clearly not fresh.. Perhaps they ought to limit their menu to the things they do best. The place needs a complete revamp if it is to reflect the standard of a victorian tearoom.

Well I am flabbergasted to say the least. If you had a problem with your meal you should of told me when I came and asked you if everything was satisfactory. We would more than happily of changed it for you if there was a problem. We always like to make sure our customers leave happy. I'm sorry you feel... More

We decided to try the tea room last Saturday and ended up having a cream tea. The scones were to die for and if you wanted extra cream it was not a problem. All I can say is if the rest of the food is as good you can say goodbye to your waistlines! The owners are very friendly and... More

It was Kevin's birthday but he still had to cook lunch for us! I had the chicken and ham pie always excellent. My wife had the braised lamb with dumplings. The dumplings were to die for! I had apple and plum crumble for pub - super too.

We much enjoyed the speciality Spanish evening. The food was very good indeed, the service excellent, we had the table for the evening. There is no licence, so took our own wine and there was no extra charge. Overall a very friendly restaurant run by a husband and wife team who ensure an excellent all round culinary experience. It is... More

The French evening was so good they ran it twice and it sold out on both occasions! Kevin certainly knows how to get flavours to work together. The onion soup was excellent and the beef bourguignonne [well that's how Delia spells it!] was even better plus lovely pud for only £20!

Not into greasy fry-ups? Then this is the place for you! Excellently prepared food and great coffee. I had the vegetarian breakfast and my wife had poached egg and bacon on toast - there are 12 options on the breakfast menu so I'm sure there is something for everyone. This is only our second visit but we will be treating... More

Went to the Scandinavian evening as a Fathers day eve treat for my wife's Dad. Outstanding! The starters were poached pear or Gravalax [smoked salmon]. Two had duck, one fish and one the veggie option for mains and they were superb. Puds we all had a Norwegian dish that was brilliant too. All for £80!! Kevin is a fantastic chef... More
