First Class service, lovely food and wine, classy but unpretentious

First Class service, lovely food and wine, classy but unpretentious - what more could you want? First visit to The Thatched Cottage last Friday - it will definitely not be the last. Thanks for making my son's graduation day even more memorable.

It was a birthday lunch and I wasn't paying so difficult to complain. I had the beef which I ordered medium. It came overdone and tough it wasn't even cut from a joint but a bought in slice that inferior restaurants use. Yorkshire pud not freshly made and the veg were not fresh either. Pity my previous meal here was... More

We booked a table based on trip advisor reviews, the majority of which are excellent. And were sadly disappointed. The welcome was effusive, when they finally noticed we were there, and nothing seemed too much trouble to the waiter who initially greeted us. The menu seemed simple and the smell of home made bread seemed a positive sign! Indeed the... More

I wanted somewhere special for my twin daughter's 40th birthday evening dinner. Checking out my fellow Trip Advisors' advise, this delightful place was top of the pile and for good reason too. I emailed Chris to inquire about catering for a party of 10 (6 adults and 4 children) and she was very helpful. We pre-ordered the meals. On arrival... More

We were visiting Dartmoor national park with 4 colleagues from Belgium. We were staying in the Premier Inn in Kingsteignton. The restaurant is a short walk from the hotel. The restaurant is located in a beautiful cottage. We were lucky with the weather so we could have our aperitif in the garden. We got a very warm and friendly welcome... More

we have visited the thatch on several occasions and needless to say,it is our favourite. The service is outstanding,we are always made extremely welcome. The menu is limited for a reason I would imagine, and that being that everything is prepared and cooked from scratch to a very high standard. Our fillet steak was cooked to perfection and was 'melt in... More

This restaurant has a lovely ambiance, the food is excellent especially the roast dinners. It opens for a group to have a morning coffee, the tables are set for that purpose. Staff are excellent.

Having visited here for both a special dinner & Valentines Day we have not been disappointed. The food is outstanding with great attention to detail. Serving staff are very attentive and helpful without being overbearing. The atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble.

We went for a family meal celebrating an anniversary on Friday. Surprisingly the restaurant wasn't busy. The front of house was very attentive and the surroundings are great. The restaurant isn't large and consequently has a lovely atmosphere. The menu, although not extensive, is varied enough. The food was excellent, served on piping hot plates. The wine list is very... We didnt eat here as it was a quick stop before walking the coastal path. The Thatched Cottage is beautiful & idyllic with a quirky garden. Inside was traditional with a big fireplace. I would like to try their food when we visit devon. Although its down country lanes there is public parking at a cost of £1 until 17:30... More
