We were visiting Dartmoor national park with 4 colleagues from Belgium. We were staying in the Premier Inn in Kingsteignton. The restaurant is a short walk from the hotel. The restaurant is located in a beautiful cottage. We were lucky with the weather so we could have our aperitif in the garden. We got a very warm and friendly welcome... More

we have visited the thatch on several occasions and needless to say,it is our favourite. The service is outstanding,we are always made extremely welcome. The menu is limited for a reason I would imagine, and that being that everything is prepared and cooked from scratch to a very high standard. Our fillet steak was cooked to perfection and was 'melt in... More

This restaurant has a lovely ambiance, the food is excellent especially the roast dinners. It opens for a group to have a morning coffee, the tables are set for that purpose. Staff are excellent.

Having visited here for both a special dinner & Valentines Day we have not been disappointed. The food is outstanding with great attention to detail. Serving staff are very attentive and helpful without being overbearing. The atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble.

We went for a family meal celebrating an anniversary on Friday. Surprisingly the restaurant wasn't busy. The front of house was very attentive and the surroundings are great. The restaurant isn't large and consequently has a lovely atmosphere. The menu, although not extensive, is varied enough. The food was excellent, served on piping hot plates. The wine list is very... We didnt eat here as it was a quick stop before walking the coastal path. The Thatched Cottage is beautiful & idyllic with a quirky garden. Inside was traditional with a big fireplace. I would like to try their food when we visit devon. Although its down country lanes there is public parking at a cost of £1 until 17:30... More

Our first visit to the Thatched cottage was truly amazing. Chris and Colin made all our wishes come true.Made everything so easy for us to arrange and nothing was no trouble, from the minute we arrived Colin looked after us and our arriving guest. The weather was fabulous which allowed us to greet all our guest in the lovely garden... More

We went for Sunday lunch as we had a near by meeting, trusting to the reviews. It was a massive disappointment, the building is in the middle of a housing estate and clearly had seen better times, the welcome was enthusiastic if not professional and that thought echoed through the meal. The maitre d or owner insisted in calling me... More

Our first visit and as a family venture we were so well received by our host, we sat and chatted in the garden before going in for lunch and were kept refreshed with drinks, lovely. We had tables set out at the top end of the restaurant and the service was impeccable on the drinks, food and clearing by the... More

We were full of high hopes- went for dinner for our anniversary so wanted to go somewhere different - lovely old thatched building- cosy inside ( a little dated). 'amuse bouche' was salmon mousse with wasabi dressing - could not taste wasabi at all- more like mayonnaise, but OK. I had scallops with pea puree and bacon (which was hard... More
