Good honest pub grub. Dog friendly too.

Visited whilst staying at nearby dornafield caravan park and the pub was within walking distance and was dog friendly. Dogs are only aloud in on side of the pub which didn't have many tables so had to wait for one to become available . The staff were friendly and service was good and relaxed... read more

Visited evening of 19th May 2015. A warm welcome by a young waitress and shown to our table. My brother and I were celebrating the end of the exam period. The staff were knowledgeable of the ales and wines on offer, and I chose the Jail Ale, a fairly standard choice, but well kept. I had the Whitebait to start,... More

On 13th May, my Birhday, I was treated to a lovely lunch at this beautiful country 'old world' pub. Service and friendliness of staff was excellent, with special attention to detail. Food was presented very well and tasted lovely. I had whitebait with side salad as starter and fish pancakes as a main course with chips and a side salad.... More

My experience was exactly the same as KaylaCooper (see below) apart from the fact there was only two of us and we visited on a Saturday. I needn’t say any more as Kayla has said it all – we would definitely book a table if we are in the area again.

We have visited a few times now and are never disappointed. Good selection of food and the bonus of smaller portions for smaller appetites (or those of us who like to save ourselves for pud!). Reasonable selection of local ales and a good wine list. Very friendly staff, always attentive without being intrusive.

I visited here recently with a few friends for a catch up. As i was a Thursday night I didn't bother to book a table. However on arrival the restaurant was fully booked (my bad), The lady was super accommodating and sat us in the bar (much to my relief). The food was excellent and the staff were so lovely,... More

Over the years we have visited this Pub restaurant many times and have had reasonable meals, nothing special just your average Pub food. Unfortunately on my last visit I found my main dish lacking flavour and my vegetables very much undercooked so much so that I left them, this was also the opinion of the rest of our party. I... Great pub with good beer and terrific food. Staff are really friendly. We just turned up on a Saturday lunch time and ate outside in the sun. If you want a table inside its best to book as it gets really busy due to the fact the food is so good and it has a great name for itself. We... More

Evening meal with friends Lovely food and the service was second to none Would highly recommend it The only negative is that when the bar is very busy it is very difficult to get served as customers sit on bar stools hogging the bar Maybe a good idea during very busy evenings would be to remove the Bar stools

Visited a couple of times before and once a gain good food, beer and service. Very busy until about 2100hrs and then thinned out. Ale straight from barrel - Otter bitter, Bass and Jail ale when we visited. Will go again when in the area. Booking recommended.
