We loved it! We felt completely home and very comfortable. What's more, the food was lovely, and the Scottie dog very attentive. We'll be going back ....... a lot!

Yesterday was our first visit to The Rising Sun and we are so pleased to have found it. We went there for lunch to celebrate a family birthday. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals - they were delicious and beautifully served and we definitely hope to visit again as soon as possible!

Another fantastic meal at our local today, thanks Giles and Louise and your staff, always welcoming and attentive. A warm welcome and a friendly chat with Giles while we waited for our food and the children enjoyed the apapratus outside and the games. Thanks for being so flexible with the children ! Delicious food as always and an abundance of... More

A couple of us popped into the Rising Sun one evening over the Christmas & New year holidays and was not let down on the food. We both decided to skip starters, and head straight for main. I went for the fish dish which was cooked beautifully - fish just fell apart. My friend went for the Ribeye steak with... More

I very rarely get time to write reviews, but was so taken by the quality and friendliness of the hospitality at the Rising Sun that I really wanted to say thank you. We found the pub at very short notice for a large family gathering - and despite this, every accommodation was made for us. We were all really impressed... More

Our second visit for Sunday lunch and once again we were not disappointed. Beautifully cooked, well presented and reasonably priced food in a cozy country pub setting; this is the ideal formula for a relaxed Sunday lunch. Giles and Louise are the congenial hosts. Trip Advisor lists the venue as Chippenham when it is in fact in Christian Malford.

This was a special birthday lunch with a friend and my mother. Our food was beautifully presented and well cooked. My scallops served with Chorizo, tomatoes and leeks were perfectly cooked by Nick. The Tarte Tatin was light and melted in the mouth and went well with the fudge sauce and caramel ice cream. My friend and my mother went... More

What a delight to come across a pub that is the genuine article. A good range of traditional beers, impeccably kept and presented, and a thoughtful menu, all wrapped up in an unselfconscious country inn ambiance. We had a warm welcome on a quiet November Friday lunchtime. I chose the spicy pumpkin soup with warmed baguette, followed by fish and... More
